What Is The Worst Problem In America?
Written by: Tom Sawyer
I think we can all agree that we have some serious problems in America, but like the song says – and we all hope – change is going to come.
Change is in the air and hopefully we can remain an optimistic nation. It isn’t just the surprising emergence and election of Barack Obama, we needed optimism anyway. It is almost as if we can only go up from our current situation. There seem to be so many things wrong it is difficult to list all the things that need to be fixed. This prompts me to ask, what do you think is the worst problem in America?
I will answer for myself and say the family is the worst problem in America. Children in intact nuclear families are statistically better off in virtually every way. But it is an unfortunate reality that many children will not have a mother and father in the household.
1 out of every 4 teenage girls has at least one sexually transmitted disease! With our current awareness and the availability of products to prevent this, I think this is an absolutely ridiculous statistic. Oh, and whatever happened to teenagers NOT having sex?
A lower fertility rate, higher divorce rate, questionable morals and other family issues lead to what I think is the foundation to many other problems in America. At the rate we are going we could vanish off the face of the earth!
If we want to fix our country I believe we need to start from the bottom up. We need to start, literally and figuratively, at home. What do you think?

The problem with America is as simple as this, the country has turned its back on God and all the problems the country is facing is correlated with that fact. Look at any problem you want let’s say teenage girls getting pregnant. I was raised in a Christian home and taught Christain values; outcome I didn’t have my first child until I was 29. Maybe I was just lucky, but I have to believe you reap what you sow and if strong moral values are not instilled in you at a young age you become a product of your environment. And sorry to say today I’m a product of my environment is a legitimate excuse for doing pretty much anything that is wrong or immoral.
I would parrallel our countries downward spiral to that of what happened in biblical times in Sodom and Gamorrah and we all know how that ended. Our TV, internet, and radio pretty much any mainstream media is polluted with sex and vulgar references. Our society wants the quick fix, the easy way to do things and more often than not that is the sinful way to do business. I am not trying to “preach” at anyone I am just pointing out that if you don’t have God as a foundation it will crumble. This country was founded by men who had God as a foundation and since then we have taken as many steps possible to get away from that.
My dad always told me garbage in garbage out and I would believe that to be true. Ask any drug addict and they probably back me up on this one. So what’s the solution? Is there a solution? How do we put God back where he belongs as the centerpiece, the basis the foundation of a nation? I’m not really sure I have the answers for that, maybe all Christians need to take a more visible stand when they don’t agree with something. Maybe instead of being ashamed to talk about God for fear of offending someone that we proclaim his name and praise him for all the blessings he has given us.
I saw this written on a church sign before and I’m sure some of you have seen it as well but I think it pretty much sums everything up:
Know God Know Peace; No God No Peace
