We’ll Miss You Bernie Mac!

Written by:

Although some might say I spoke too soon the other day when I posted the article of reports that Bernie Mac had died, when in fact he hadn’t, I don’t think I did.  That day I spoke from my heart as I do today.  And today I will say, I am glad to have had Bernie for the additional time we did.

I am sad and I feel as if my day and weekend have been ruined.  Not because Bernie died, he couldn’t help that, but because I know I will never see a live Bernie Mac again.  He was such a funny guy and a good guy.  Whenever I saw him in interviews, his sincerity, humbleness, and down to earth persona, was clear to see.  Yes, they will continue to play The Bernie Mac show and the countless other entertainment pieces he was in, but as of this morning, fresh Bernie Mac has ended.

I’m not going to write a long article here, I can’t.  I am so overcome with sadness.  For me, this feels the same as when we lost Luther too soon.  It is just too soon.  Each of these men had so much more to do, but apparently, somebody thought different.

We grieve but with gladness that we had a taste of the Mac man!  I own a copy of Kings of Comedy and will play it time and time again, just to get my Bernie fix.  Our hearts, well wishes, and deepest sympathy go out to Bernie’s family and friends.  That’s all we can say.  No words seem adequate at a time like this.

We’ll miss you Bernie Mac!

Not only is it sad to see someone like this pass away, the people who figuratively take their place are not the same. What singer do we have to replace what Luther did? R Kelly? I don’t think so! What comedian can give us the joy of a Bernie Mac? He wasn’t Steve Harvey, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx or anyone else. He was Bernie Mac and he did things his way. It was as if we wanted/needed him the way he was without changing for Hollywood.

Wow, I remember the first time I saw Bernie Mac perform! It was on Deft Comedy Jam. My initial thoughts were “that sure is an outlandish get-up he’s wearing, Air Brushed Jeans and Shirt”. He won me over that night. I can’t tell you how much my family and I enjoyed his performances! To this day, I still use his phase, “I ant’s scare none of…!” Bernie was good man and comedian, he will be truly missed. My prayers and well wishes go out to his family and friends.

that negro was too funny. i’m at the theater one time, i think it was for the movie “life”, and the beginning credits and such, were being shown. then the actors names started coming across. martin; eddie; some others, and then “Bernie Mac”. people all over the theater started laughing, including me, just to see his name come across the screen. wow, he will be missed. God bless you Bernie Mac.
i’m thru, pray my strength in the lord.

Much respect to Bernie Mac.. He will be missed. All the comments that have been made, Mr. Bernie Mac deserves them all. A fun figure to the public eyes. Mr. Bernie Mac has made me laugh when times I didn’t want to laugh. He’s a real comedian. A true American Idol to comedy. When the Ocean movies started coming to the theater, not only did I see them, I purchase the DVDs just because of Bernie Mac, though I like Clooney, Brad, Matt and others, but it was just something seeing Bernie Mac.made me blush, smile, just act a fool. His charisma was just fascinating. We love you Bernie Mac and we will miss you. God Bless!

My heart is still heavy from hearing the news of Bernie’s transition. I can still recall our last conversation. Ironically, we talked about death– among other things. He shared a part of himself that night that others don’t often get a chance to see. Bernie was a very spiritual, humble and loving man in addition to being a good father, husband, friend and one of the best entertainers ever. We’re all going to miss him immensely. His job here on earth is done and he has left us with a lot. One thing for sure is that we can never think of him without smiling. Right now he leaves us with sadness in our hearts, but I think the happiness he placed in our hearts will make the sadness disappear in time. We will ALWAYS love you, Bernie!!

Doesn’t it seem like some people are snatched from us when they seem to just be really hitting their stride? It seldom seems to be the individuals with questionable character. Another reason to give people their due respect while they are living.
