We Have Two New SuperHeroes Folks: Obama and McCain!
Written by: Kim Sawyer
Well, as you all know, today is Entertainment Chatter on 7daybuzz. And quite a few people think that comic books are entertaining. So, what would you say (or for that matter do) if you saw a comic book for sale, featuring presidential hopefuls John McCain or Barack Obama? Well, if you’ve never thought about this before, you probably want to start thinking about it.
A San Diego-based publisher is about to release comic books based on the life stories of presumptive presidential nominees Barack Obama and John McCain. ”We’re not doing anything that is sensational here,” IDW special projects editor Scott Dunbier told the Associated Press, adding that neither campaign had anything to do with the projects. “We’re sticking to the facts.”
The books, which are independently researched and illustrated by a veteran team of writers and artists, will be available online, via cell phones and in comic book shops beginning Oct. 8.

According to the Associated Press, Obama’s biography is being written by novelist Jeff Mariotte (Superman, Spider-Man, Star Trek), and drawn by artist Tom Morgan. J. Scott Campbell did both covers; each features its candidate in the classic superhero pose of squared shoulders and fists on hips with an American flag in the background.
So 7daybuzz readers, what do you think? Would you buy these comic books for your kids? They might just turn out to be collector items as, if I’m not mistaken, this is the first time presidential candidates will have their own comic books. This is truly something that makes you go, hmmmmmm.

I actually think it is pretty cool. For one, I think we (America at least) should take every opportunity to laugh and have fun. With the world climate and what is going on in the world (2 wars), we need some humor. Second, this is some slightly out-of-the-box thinking and it could reach a new audience. If technology and the digital age has taught us anything it should be that we can used different methods to accomplish the end goal.

If the bio’s are correct, Barack Obama comic book will be 1/4 the size of John McCains.
It is a very interesting idea. I would buy one for me, not the kids.

Kent, do you think that makes McCain more qualified to run the country?

What about Bob Barr?
It seems that only two parties get coverage for the US elections. Are other parties seen as a joke in America?

Hey Richard, welcome back. I wasn’t familiar with Bob Barr so I had to look him up on the internet. Here in America, most people are either a Democrat or Republican so that’s why these two parties receive the most publicity. In my opinion, the other parties are not viewed as serious contenders to win the race to the White House, thus they receive less publicity.

It’s sort of a catch-22 isn’t it?
I belong to this cute dating site called OkCupid and they have this political test where you answer a bunch of questions and then at the end it spits out where you fit in the political spectrum.
I came out as a Libertarian, which happens to be what Bob Barr is. My political views clash with both Obama and McCain, so if I were an American voter and I voted for either of them, I’d actually be voting for someone who fundamentally wants to do things that I don’t agree with.
So, for me, I feel it is important to be consistent with what I believe, rather than who has the best chance of getting in. I would still vote for a candidate even if I knew there was no chance of him winning and not consider it a wasted vote.
But if it comes down to being just between McCain and Obama, well I think that Obama will probably make the better president. I’ll have to wait till November to see if Americans agree with me or not.

Yeah, it is a catch 22. More than likely, Bob Barr’s name will be on the voting ticket so he’ll probably take away some of the votes from Obama and/or McCain. We’ll see…..
