Victims Ignored and Justice Denied–by the Supreme Court

Written by: Tom Sawyer

Wow! People, we are sinking fast! Rapists, severe rapists aren’t eligible for the death penalty? How can this be? Additionally, how can this have gone on since 2003? This is just another indication that something is VERY wrong with our criminal justice system. It would be in your best interest to keep up with this one because our world is getting more and more evil around us. We don’t necessarily want to dwell on this evil, but at the same time we don’t want to turn a blind eye to it either.

Below is an excerpt from an article written concerning Patrick Kennedy – I guess it is appropriate to say CHILD rapist Patrick Kennedy.  Click the link and read the rest of the article.  You will probably shake your head in wonder.

Child rapist Patrick Kennedy has now successfully avoided his death sentence. The Supreme Courts decision mocks both the nature of the Constitution and the serious suffering that young victims like the one Patrick Kennedy raped in 2003 undergo each and every day. It hammers yet another nail in the coffin of clear Constitutional interpretation.

Well, story was buried with 220 Diggs and 50 comments. I think it’s just about pointless for me to submit anything political to Digg anymore. My last four stories have broken 200 Diggs (one had 340) and each of them have been buried.

    I don’t know. I just don’t know.

This is HORRIBLE and RIDICULOUS! Just shows how much society’s moral standards have fallen.

  3. Steve Says:

Ok, for those that believe in a Christian God, do you not believe that vengeance is the lord’s?
It says it in the bible.

We should not be seeking vengeance according to that reference in the bible. So why is killing someone via death penalty so important? Patrick Kennedy and all other rapists will get their just due, in this life or in the ever after. This speaks to your faith in God doing what’s right. If you don’t have faith, then I can understand the desire to sentence someone to death. Did Jesus not say to turn the other cheek? We should not get caught up in this death lust.

Also, did you know that it is customary for rapists to get raped in jail? It happens. They will get their just due. Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

Is the Supreme Court wrong? I don’t think so. Their job is to interpret the constitution, not morals. The problem with enforcing and legislating morals is whose moral standard should we go by? All Christians will say Jesus, Muslims will say Mohammed, Jews will say Abraham and Moses.

That’s the problem that I believe the supreme court was grappling with-legislating morals.

    That’s all..

My friend, you are sadly mistaken:

Deu 22:25 “But if a man finds the girl who is engaged in the field, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die.

There are a myriad of other verses that back this up. For those who follow God the answer is clear: rapists are executed for the crime.

  5. Tom Sawyer Says:

Genesis 9:6 – Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

“There were 36 separate offenses throughout the Old Testament (Book of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy) that were punishable by death including Murder (no pity), rape, sacrificing to false gods, and so on.”

I got this information from http://www.geocities.com/a_christian_conservative/ and there is much more there concerning execution.

  6. Steve Says:

You know what I find interesting is that you are proving a very interesting thing. Jesus spoke a different message in the new testament. The old testament is an amazing exhibition of a terrible, mighty and vengeful God. It is even written that God is jealous in the old testament. The old testament is BLOODY and archaic. Even INCEST is justified in the old testament. Remember after Sodom and Gemorah is destroye both of Lot’s daughters got him drunk and had sex with him? They did that to keep the blood line going. They were not the last people on earth either.

    You guys are both right..

Then Jesus comes in and changes the whole script. Turn the other cheek. Cast the first stone. ETC….

This is one of the many ways that Jesus was radical.

    And Jesus talked about Forgiveness…

You can use the bible to prove a lot of stuff…
What will you follow.. the old testament or the new testament?
Which one is suitable for legislation?

Forgiveness is not a convenient thing…

I think any crime against an innocent child that has no ability to defend themself, should be at the top of the list when it comes to punishment for a crime.

  8. Tom Sawyer Says:

One thing you mention that I find interesting, and true, is you can use the bible to prove a lot of stuff. People interpret it differently and I think that is why there are so many different “camps of thought” concerning the bible. I didn’t really want to say different denominations because there are even differences within denominations.

    I appreciate the comment Tom.
I know we get emotionally charged over things. Sometimes we just need to stop and think about what is really happening. And I know that the violation of a child is enough to move anyone to murder. But is it consistent with the teachings? Are we going to be like Yahweh/Jehovah and kill another via the death penalty or are we going to be like the Father that Jesus talks about that is forgiving?

I’ve seen people show forgiveness by not pursuing the death penalty after their loved on was murdered. I think that this is one of the more difficult things to do. Forgiveness…

I work on this everyday. The forgiveness that I pursue is not the condescending type where I comfort myself by thinking that I am better than the other person. I believe as Jesus did on the cross..

Forgive them Father for they know not what they do…
I’m out.. thank you for the discussion.
