We Are Back, Safe And Refreshed

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Do you know anything about double gates that lead to a backyard?  You know, the kind that will fit an automobile, RV or at least a riding mower through.  If you know what I’m talking about, you know that there is a hole, normally a PVC pipe, in the ground that helps to hold one side of the gate in place.  That hole (PVC pipe) is normally held into the ground by a little cement.  All of this is probably about a foot or more buried so the hole is visible and grass can grow around it – at least that is how I’ve seen them.

I went through all of that to describe to you our only damage from Hurricane Gustav.

I guess the wind blew the gate hard enough to lift this thing – I don’t really know what the official name for it is – right out of the ground.  You can’t really tell from the pictures, but this thing left a hole in the ground.  Shoot, this “damage” is something I’m thankful for because it could have been much worse.  all I have to do is get some Quikcrete, a little PVC and fix this.  I don’t have a bag of money in my backyard so it really isn’t a big deal.  If someone really wants to go back there with a lawnmower, be my guest.

All the excitement has caused us to lay off blogging for a week or so, but we are back and should be ready to go again.
