Rush Limbaugh Is Still a Hater!

Written by: Kim Sawyer

I can’t believe this man and his views on President Obama and the Democratic Party are still newsworthy! And look at me, writing about it too! About a month ago, I wrote I thought Rush Limbaugh was hating on President Obama because of his race. And based on what’s transpired over the last few days, I feel that even more. Here’s why:

Who has ever challenged a President to a debate AFTER he has already been elected? Can we all say no one up until now. Rush Limbaugh has challenged President Obama to a debate, as if he (Limbaugh) is running for President! Umm, Rush – if no one has told you, that job is already taken – by Barack Obama! We all know you don’t approve of him or his policies – you’ve made that plain and clear by stating you hope he fails. When have you ever wished a president to fail? Did you wish Bill Clinton to fail? No! You disagreed with him too, didn’t you? But you’re wishing President Obama fails and now you want to debate him as if he doesn’t hold the most prestigious position in the world?! If that’s not disrespectful, and as far as I’m concerned, a little bit ‘closet racial.’ I don’t know what is!

Now keep in mind that the Republican Party is loving this. In fact, it’s been said that Rush Limbaugh is the ‘real’ leader of the Republican Party, not Michael Steele (that’s another story all together). I think the Republican Party is loving all of this controversy that Rush is creating and they are more than happy to let him speak for them because they want to make it seem like they support the President! Don’t be fooled people – the line between Democrat and Republican is seriously drawn and Rush is milking this as much as he possibly can!

I’m not fooled. I truly believe Rush Limbaugh doesn’t like President Obama because of his race, no matter how much he tries to disguise it by talking about his dislike of Obama’s policies. Whatever. Just like one of 7DayBuzz reader’s said, “If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck there’s a good chance it’s a duck.” Rush Limbaugh, you’re a duck!

    Kim,
We’ve already been down this road so I’m not going to sit here and strain my brain trying to convince you that it has nothing to do with race. It’s obvious that you just can’t believe someone can be so outspoken simply because of policies. Hell, I can’t stand Obama simply because of his policies.

I remember a couple of times where Tom had mentioned that he hopes Obama doesn’t fail simply because it will mean there won’t be another black president for years and years. While I can’t speak for everyone I have never once associated my opinion of future presidents (or candidates) based on their race. If he fails he will fail because he has the most socialist views of any president to date and not because people like Rush are hoping he will fail and damn well not because of his race. To think that Obama failing will forever stigmatized black candidates out there is offering a lot of presumption that most people are pure racists and only vote on skin color which is very upsetting to me.

Let’s also not forget Kim that Obama, his cabinet, and the media which is his cheerleading squad have all thrown gasoline on the fire by giving Rush the attention they have. I’m going to reiterate one last time what Rush means, He, myself, and thousands upon thousands of people hope that Obama’s Socialism fails and fails miserably because it is against everything America was founded on and will do nothing but create a single class dependent on the government for every aspect of their life.

The reality is that this is social media at work. Bloggers like yourself are also adding gasoline to the Rush fire and if anything to continue to cover it will only increase Rush’s listening base on power. So as a conservative, Thank You and the thousands of other people for helping fast track the recovery of the conservative movement.

Kim, I think the pot is calling the kettle black on this one. Every liberal in America was hoping that Bush would fail from the day he was elected. In fact, I’ll take it one step further. In all the years I’ve been following politics I’ve never seen such a concerted effort to discredit a president as we saw during the Bush years. It came from the entire main stream media, Hollywood, and liberals everywhere. We were in the middle of a war on terror and they still went after him.
I want Obama’s policies to fail because I’m scared to death about the direction he is taking this country I love. Today Biden is having a top secret meeting with union leaders with the purpose of taking away the privacy of every working person where unions want to set up shop. No tv cameras allowed. So much for transparency. Obama is in meetings trying to push through healthcare reform which is really just another name for social medicine. The stock market continues to plummet and yet Obama is encouraging us to buy stock. The government is taking over every facet of our lives at an alarming pace and there are MANY of us who do not agree with that. Not because we’re racists but because we believe in our constitution as it was written and are taking a stand against those who are attempting to shred it and rewrite it to suit their agendas. What is wrong with conservatives having a voice? Don’t make the mistake of thinking that Rush is alone in his views. He is merely speaking for those of us who don’t like what’s happening in Washington and there are a lot of us. Our country was not founded on Socialism and our constitution does not support Socialism. Even some democrats are beginning to realize what’s going on and are speaking out against it. I agree with Ryan that all the complaining about Rush and other conservative talk show hosts just creates a buzz and is increasing their audiences by the day. First out of curiosity and then because what they are hearing starts to make sense. That’s how I started listening to Rush. Maybe the White House is trying to distract everyone so they won’t hear and see what our leaders are up to. I wish they would spend half as much time working on our countries problems as they are on trying to discredit the only voices us conservatives still have.

Hey Ryan. Here’s the thing: I don’t think you’re a racist and I know very well how you feel about Obama’s policies. See, that’s the difference between you and Rush – you don’t wish Obama will fail, you just wish his policies will fail because you disagree with his policies! I can live with that. I disagree with some of Obama’s policies too (i.e. he rescinded Bush’s policy wherein doctors had a right to refuse to take part in abortions because of moral qualms). Rush wants Obama to fail – that’s personal and I think it stems from a racial standpoint. You’re saying Rush meant to say he hopes Obama’s socialist fails. Well, I’ve never heard Rush say, “what I meant to say was….” Now you’re trying to justify his words. He (Rush) has no problems communicating his thoughts and feelings and I don’t think this was one of those rare times where he couldn’t get his point across. Tell me, when has he ever wished someone else in politics would fail? Not their policies, but the person themselves? Remember, there is a difference.

Regarding Tom’s comment, I don’t necessarily agree that if Obama fails it will affect the outcome of future Black presidents. That’s putting a lot of responsibility on Obama’s shoulder for the outcome of one race. I don’t agree with that.

  4. Kim Sawyer Says:

Hey Elaine. Trust me – I don’t think Rush is alone in his views. I know he is the voice of those who choose to speak like him in private as opposed to in public. I reiterate, if Rush would’ve said, from the beginning, that he hopes Obama’s policies would fail, I wouldn’t have ever written anything about this. Well, I wouldn’t have called him a racist:–) But to say he hopes Obama fails – again, I say, that’s personal. I don’t think everyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist. Like I said to Ryan, I too, disagree with Obama on certain things and I know I’m not a racist. There is nothing wrong with conservatives having a voice just like there’s nothing wrong with liberals having a voice. But how about keeping it geared toward policy and not the man himself.

When did anyone ever say they hope Bush fails? Yes, people were against Bush concerning the war, but that’s because he lied to get the war started! That’s when people started talking about him and going after him! Heck, before it came out he lied about the intel to start the war, his ratings were extremely high! I remember, right after 9-11, if anyone even spoke out against Bush or his policies, they were called communists and unpatriotic! Remember the Dixie Chicks spoke out against him and people burned their CDs in protest! It was ridiculous. Despite all of that, no one ever said, “I hope Bush fails.” Rush has said that about Obama and that is what you call unpatriotic!

  5. Tom Sawyer Says:

I don’t remember anyone in the media saying they hoped Bush failed. If I look past the nice words and get right down to the heart of the matter, most people that had anything negative to say about him said he was an idiot. Actually, I still feel like he is an idiot and will go down in history as the worst president ever.

If you want Obama’s policies to fail that is OK although I think you are hoping our country keeps running in place, or moving farther back, until the failure happens.

Maybe we should give Rush a litmus test. Has he ever been called a racist before? Yes. Did those times all have something to do with politics? Certainly not. Was it one or two people who have considered him a racist? Certainly not.

I don’t get why so many people want to “Rush” to his defense when he has made many dubious statements in the past. I don’t defend the Reverend at the inauguration because what he did was certainly questionable and it happened during a historic event when we were trying to put some of that pain behind us. Isn’t Rush doing the same or similar thing? Yes, Obama needs to work on some of his policies, but we certainly do not need him to fail – he is our president.

I ask that everyone look at what is going on around us. There are racist people who are loving all of the monkey jokes and Rush’s comments because they live with hatred deep in their hearts. If we are going to disagree about someone being racist or not, let’s try to look at that person’s history – Rush’s has a history of making statements he has no business making.

All this is going on and it hasn’t even been two months yet!

  6. Tom Sawyer Says:

    This is from 2003:

Here’s the complete statement that got Rush Limbaugh fired by ESPN this week. (They said he “resigned” but you know how that works.)

During Sunday’s ESPN broadcast of their NFL Countdown program (9/28/03), Limbaugh was talking about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who is black:

Limbaugh: “I don’t think he’s been that good from the get-go. I think what we’ve had here is a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.”

  7. elaine kazinec Says:

Kim I have to disagree with you about Bush. There are many people who wanted him to fail miserably. He was disrespected in ways I have never seen before. It was often personal and cruel. It didn’t bother you because he wasn’t your “guy.” I don’t agree with everything Rush says but I will defend his right to say it. I don’t like the above comments about Bush because they are personal and in my opinion, wrong. However, I would fight for your right to say it. I think for the next four years everyone who disagrees with Obama will be called racist. I’ve already accepted that and moved on. I was offended by numerous comments from blacks during the campaign and even at the inauguration. I still defend their right to say what they said. There are so many things going on in Washington right now that we should be discussing but instead we’re discussing Rush Limbaugh.

  8. Kim Sawyer Says:

Okay, Miss Elaine, here’s a truce: let’s agree to disagree about Rush and President Obama. Now, I agree there’s tons of stuff going on in Washington and with our government. Is there anything in particular that you wish to discuss?

  9. Tom Sawyer Says:

The fact that you were offended during the campaign and the inauguration is just as wrong as the hundreds of years of racism. Let me clarify further. Nobody should have said anything to offend you because it is hypocritical for someone black to say/do something knowing if it were said to them they would be offended.

My question for you is, what would it take for you to think Rush is a racist?

I think you are looking past the fact that Kim and I have both mentioned some problems we have with some of the things that President Obama has done/said. Plus, we have said it without reference to any monkeys or questionable comments. I can also tell you that four years of smooth talk with questionable action will get on my nerves.

I think you don’t, and possibly can’t, understand the hope that Obama has meant to so many – and the resulting sensitivity associated with negative remarks. Think about what it is like to finally be able to tell little black boys and girls that they can be anything they want when they grow up and actually believe it is true.

I probably made some of the remarks that offended you concerning Bush and I’m sorry. I have it in me to worship no man and call things like I see them. When he was first elected I could look at him and tell he was a liar. I grew up in a small town in Indiana, but the street sense I do have told me that guy wasn’t the real deal. Also, the most amazing thing that has probably happened in my adult life is when America re-elected Bush. I still don’t get that one.

  10. Tom Sawyer Says:

I would really like to get this whole thing out in the open and have an adult conversation about what makes someone racist versus free speech versus making the wrong comments at the wrong time. Now, I don’t want to start anything that will offend anyone and it is not going to be about bashing any one race. Does anyone have a problem with that?

I think Richard may have some things to say and unfortunately he is having a problem posting right now.

  11. Ryan Kazinec Says:

    Tom,
I’m really trying to understand what you said in your first paragraph but you may have to elaborate a bit more. I’m not quite sure what you’re saying.

I’m am very well aware to both you and Kim have expressed some things you don’t like about our new president as I have with Rush. He almost pushed me away from listening permanently when he applauded the oil companies for their record profits. He is a stubborn individual who will never waiver from his beliefs. There’s a lot I don’t agree with him on.

Seeing how I am not a black man you are probably right to some degree in regards to the hope Obama represents but that is almost contradictory to the statement you made about Bush and not worshiping any man. I’m not saying you worship the man by any means but he is being held up like some prophet by the media and a majority of the population. He is only a man.

Here’s a question for you. What about the women? We’ve never had a woman president. Are little girls dreams and hopes not able to be realized until there is a woman as president? Women have gone through some of the same historical discrimination yet it seems to be perfectly fine for the media to critique and bombard female candidates such as Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin. Why is it considered so disrespectful when people question Obama? You seeing the double standard here? Kids of all colors have been fulfilling their dreams for years and years and it didn’t take a black man as president to make that happen, it took drive and determination and in some cases parents repeatedly telling their children they could grow up to be anything they want.

The reality is the media does manipulate people to vote for the candidate they support which in this case was without a doubt Obama. Overall, I believe history will show that this election was the turning point to the decline in the media’s credibility and significance.

I do find it a bit humorous that you go from talking about the sensitivity of some people and then go into explaining how you passed judgment on Bush without even knowing him. My mother taught me to never judge a book by the cover and I do my best to live by that still today. Back in jr high I met a friend, his name was Johnny. Johnny was a mexican and to be perfectly honest looked like a “gang banger” on the outside. Most parents would immediately tell there kids not to hang out with this rough neck simply because of his appearance, not my mother. She held true to her beleif in not judging a book by its cover and thank God she did or I would have lost out on the one of the best friendships I’ve ever had in my life. Johnny may have been rough on the outside but he is one of the most loyal, generous, and supportive people I have in my life still today.

  13. elaine kazinec Says:

You are right that I can’t possibly understand what it is to be black and treated differently because of it. I have seen bigotry first hand as a little girl in Wichita, Kansas where they had restrooms labeled women, men, and colored. I’ve seen it as a young adult when I introduced a black friend of mine to my husbands white roommate and people stared and made comments directed towards both of them. I’ve seen it recently from an ignorant aunt of mine from Alabama whom I don’t even associate with because of it. But, that being said, we are all created equal. We all have the same opportunities to make something of ourselves if we’re willing to work hard enough.( Minorities actually have more access to scholarship assistance and government school loans and housing than whites do. Is that discrimination? ) I will give you an illustration of what I’m talking about. I worked for a group of doctors in California by offering to do filing to get my foot in the door. I worked my way up by working hard and being reliable. They felt I had a gift for diagnosis and offered to put me through medical school if I wanted to go. I declined their offer because I just didn’t want that kind of responsibility and felt my work as a mother was more important at that time. Later on I turned down office manager positions because I was satisfied with my life as it was and didn’t want to put in the extra hours in exchange for more money. I had opportunities handed to me and I turned them down. I don’t blame anyone for that, it was my decision. One of the most wonderful things about this country has always been the freedom to do what we want with our lives. Opportunities are there for everyone IF we are willing to work hard enough. Nobody should need a black president in order to believe in themselves. Does that mean Chinese people won’t be able to reach their potential until a Chinese president is elected? Or Mexican, Japanese etc… Or as Ryan said, a woman. You claim Bush was a liar and yet Obama said he was going to go line by line and make sure their was no pork barrel spending. He said we were going to have complete transparency and that things were going to change in Washington. Does that make him a liar or does it just mean there are circumstances beyond his control. I think you missed my point about your Bush comments. You don’t need to apologize because you have every right to say whatever you want. It is my responsibility to put on my big girl panties and deal with it. That’s what I love the most about America. Unfortunately for all of us I see change coming that is leading directly to Socialism. I believe our freedom of speech is being threatened. So is our capitalism, freedom of religion, freedom to bear arms, and freedom to choose our own health care to name a few. I would like to know how all of you are feeling about the direction we are going. And, for the record, I don’t think Rush is always right. Sometimes he’s rude, obnoxious, and downright mean. But he’s also smart and I have learned a lot from him and made the decision that for me, it was worth the trade off. I’ve also put up with doctors who were horribly rude and mean simply because they were good at what they do and I needed their help. So if you don’t like what Rush has to say, don’t listen. I stopped watching mainstream media because I don’t like them. I don’t try to have them shut down, and I don’t whine about it. I just turn the channel. We do not live in a perfect world and the government can’t make it perfect by controlling everything but that’s what they are attempting to do. Is that really what you want?

  14. Tom Sawyer Says:

My first paragraph simply meant racist remarks are wrong no matter who they come from. Dr. Lowery made those comments with the world looking on. Bad move in my opinion.

What about women? Yes, they have historically been treated like they are below men – that is still going on today in some countries. I guess to be totally honest, I would have to ask a woman and then a black woman how it feels. I can speak from my own perspective and Obama’s election meant a lot. However, Kim will tell you I stay true to my word. I will not worship Obama or Bush. It just isn’t in me.

Since he is human and you are asking a question, yes Obama is a liar too. I will tell you right now, smooth talk for four years without progress will get on my nerves. That still doesn’t excuse Bush and it doesn’t change the way I feel about him. I think we only know part of his story. Living in the DC area taught me to realize things are probably worse than what the general public knows.

I would have been happy if McCain, Clinton or Obama would have won. For me it was very important to be done with Bush.

When I talk about Bush being an idiot it has nothing to do with a race or the sensitivity caused when people associate Obama with a monkey. Hey, idiots know no race and I’ve seen them in several flavors. :D Please, don’t think any of my comments are racially motivated. For instance, if Bush, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were running a race for idiot of the universe I don’t know who I would vote for. Jesse’s “nut cut motion” on the newscast was a classic and should have pushed him out of the mainstream forever – although I fail to understand why he was still in the mainstream before that.

  15. Tom Sawyer Says:

I think I’ve noticed some remarks about scholarships before. Can we talk about why these things are so and why affirmative action was/is needed? Where would we be without those programs?

I hope we can agree on this: when America, the majority, decided that one man was better for us than another man, it was done without regard for color.

I think we are generally in agreement, but do disagree on a few individuals.

  16. elaine kazinec Says:

Yes I agree with that because I think Obama’s rock star image had more to do with the increase in young voters than his race. It was good to see the passion and excitement from a lot of people who have been completely ambivalent about politics in the past. I was really glad to see young people getting excited and hope that in the future they will become involved in their own local communities so they can have a say in what goes on around them. I’m also glad that we did vote in a black president even though I strongly disagree with his policies.
I understand the whole affirmative action thing but I think it’s gone too far.It has helped a lot of hard working kids who otherwise wouldn’t have had a chance and I’m all for that. But there should be assistance for all who are willing to work hard not just minorities. We tried to get help with college loans for Ryan but could never qualify for anything because my husband and I both worked. He tried applying for loans on his own but, because he still lived with us, our income had to be included. If he moved out he would have to work full time and couldn’t afford school. We had a very bright and motivated kid who wanted to go to school and he couldn’t because of money. It seemed that the more we worked, the less we made so working more to pay for his school didn’t seem to be an option either. So he waited until he found a way to go to school through an employer. This company rewards individuals who work hard and are motivated to better themselves by paying for their schooling. It’s not limited to minorities. There are conditions that have to be met and I think that should be the case for anyone who gets a free ride. Unfortunately, in our country, free handouts with no conditions have become painfully abundant. We punish hard work by increasing taxes and and reward laziness through all our social programs. These programs may be in serious trouble anyway because the tax increases that are supposed to fund them may not be in the bank after all. It seems that the wealthy are feeling a little fed up. They are starting to think that it isn’t worth it to put in those 60 to 70 hour work weeks anymore. They are cutting back and cutting out. ( They are calling into conservative radio in large numbers and Fox is getting emails stating the same thing.) Now that the upper class aren’t feeling motivated to work hard who is going to pay for all our social programs? Who’s going to pay for unemployment, social security, education programs, law enforcement, fire departments etc… It’s a sobering thought.
