R. Kelly Beat the Charges!

Written by:

Wow!  It’s official.  He beat the charges.  R. Kelley was acquitted of 14 counts of child pornography!  Ok, everybody that thought he was going to jail, raise your hand.  Ok now, everybody that knew he was going to jail raise your hand.  Ok, so of course, I thought he would do some jail time and I figure you all did too.  But I must admit, a small teeny, tiny part of me wondered if he would get off.  I told somebody he probably started singing to some jurors and melted them down into putty in his hands, like he does so much of the female population: i.e. 13/14 year old girls!!!

As they read the verdict, it is written (http://news.aol.com/entertainment/music/music-news-story/ar/_a/r-kelly-trial/20080603064509990001) that R. held his attorney’s hands, shut his eyes, bowed his head, and barely moved.  As he realized he was being acquitted of all charges, he cried, said thank you Jesus over and over, and hugged his lawyers.  As he left the courtroom, he saluted and waved to onlookers.  What a guy!  He did it.  He beat a possible 15 year sentence in prison.  Apparently the jurors absolutely believed it was R on the video, but had reasonable doubt about whether or not it was the alleged female.  (Sometimes that reasonable doubt thing backfires don’t it y’all?)

Truthfully, I’m glad it is over.  I always hate it when we have to sit through stuff like this.  If it were you and me, there would be no cameras or reporters in our face.  I know they are celebrities, but come on!  One thing I always find fascinating is how valuable exposure of this nature is.  Periodic murmurings, and chit chat all these years about R’s actions have kept him in the spotlight, thus catapulted record sales into the millions!  I’m sure, had he been leading a normal “star” life, sales would still be good, but this good???

Let’s all pray for R and keep our fingers crossed that this has taught him a lesson.  I ain’t trying to judge him but… we all know R has shadiness in his past.  R is too old for this behavior and these shenanigans!  To be as business savvy as his success denotes, why does he keep putting himself in the line of fire???

Anyhoo, it’s over now.  He is free to move on.  He is no longer Trapped in the Closet (not that he ever was).  He can go about his life with his head up.  If this ever happens again, or even talk about the possibility that it happened, they need to put him away!  That’s what I think, tell me what you think.  Holla back!

Kathy, I honestly think R Kelly would be as successful whether he was on trial or not. I would put him right up there with Prince when you think about all the music he has made either as an artist, song writer or producer. Back in the day he would even make a slamming gospel song to put on his album.

Do you think he would have been found guilty if he didn’t have money? I know the verdict was given because of reasonable doubt, but I think his cash had something to do with his whole situation.

He will come out of this smelling like a rose. Look for his next album to be 2008 deep – that is deep by today’s standards.

I don’t know if his money helped, but I will say, and I admit it might be wrong, if the white rich man’s money can get him out of trouble, why not the black man too?

I am one of the ones who thought he would be found guilty simply because his history of loving underage girls is well publicized. Sometimes our judicial system works and sometimes it doesn’t. To a certain degree, I agree with Tom that if R Kelly did not have money and if he wasn’t famous, he would’ve probably been found guilty. I, like you, just hope he’s learned his lesson. Time will tell.

Why am I not surprised!!?? It’s sad how celebrities can get away with things that the average person cannot. I guess money is power…

First of all …….The trial date being pushed back year after year was a good indication to me that things were not going to pan out in court. I mean…this is R. KELLY….The R-a. What is R&B without the R? Nothing!!!!!, R. Kelly is a legend! I bet even the judge got R. Kelly in their music collection. He has been around too long and at this point I think people have kind of lost their interest in the case seeing as how it happened several years back. OF COURSE the girl is going to say its not her cause right now she is siiting fat on an island sipping on a mi-tie with bookoo money in her pocket. For all we know she could have been setitng him up!, maybe she secretly tapped him to get rich! You just have to think at all aspects of this. I dont know…I just love me some R-a. But we will never know what really happened. Well let me take that back….we all seen what really happened, but it didnt pan out in court. And the rest is history. Just like the R-a.

Never once did I think R.Kelly would get in trouble. When I found out the girl that was supposed to be in the video said it wasn’ t her, it was a wrap. The reason why I think he wasn’t found guilty is because of the motivation behind the charges. These weren’t people trying to expose him as a sick pervert, they wanted money. I hope he gets his act together.

  7. Tom Sawyer Says:

I hope he gets his act together too, but unfortunately I doubt it.

Somebody told me just a few weeks ago, we do what works for us. Good, bad, or ugly. Much of what we do, we do it because it satisfies something within us or feels good. If it is wrong, illegal, immoral, who cares, as long as it feels good and we can get away with it. I just hope this doesn’t feel so good to R, he sees he can get away with it, and continues his actions. I think this was his one free get out of jail card!

The Legend will continue. R&B would not be the same without him. For the last couple of albums he chilled out with the crazy sex talk how he used to on 12-Play, but now that he beat the charges he’s going full throttle again. His next album is titled “12-Play 4th Quarter” coming this summer!

    Hi Kendall.

  12. Kathy Curry Says:

John, please explain this to me???

  13. JOHNTHEBAPTIST7 Says:

let her without sin take her rock and knock that fool upside his perverted head….

don’t evennnnnnn get me started on r.kelly.(the “R” is for roach)

  14. Tom Sawyer Says:

I still don’t understand. Maybe it is too early for me.

  15. JOHNTHEBAPTIST7 Says:

I don’t care for Kelly and my comments would be very judgemental, so I decided to not throw rocks at him so I emptied all the rocks of my pockets. However in doing so I found out that I had way more negative ideas about the man than I thought. Hope that clears things up for you both.

  16. Kathy Curry Says:

    I guess so.
