OMG! Glenn Beck Has Praise for President Obama!
Written by: Kim Sawyer
Well, in a backhanded sort of way. If you notice, this is the first time I’ve written anything concerning Glenn Beck and that’s because I think he’s a complete idiot who only talks to hear himself! Like Rush Limbaugh, he says things that he knows will incite those closet, racial bigots, into action. So, I’ve always told myself I would not post anything about him. However, this is different:–)
Yesterday, Katie Couric debuted her new web show, @katiecouric, on cbsnews.com and Glenn Beck was her first guest. Here’s what the good (I’m being soooooooo facetious here) Mr. Beck revealed on Katie’s show:
”I think John McCain would have been worse for the country than Barack Obama.”
What?!!!!! Finally! Glenn Beck is showing that he has some sense - even if it is minute! Of course, he followed up this statement with an abashing “I can’t believe I’m saying this.” Really?!!!!!!
Do you think he’d ever reveal this sentiment on his own show? Heck no! And here’s why: He is fully aware that he’d lose those viewers who feed off of the animosity he usually shows towards President Obama! Plain and simple! Well, at least that’s what I think —- 7daybuzz readers, what do YOU think?

First Kim,
How many times have you actually watched the Glenn Beck show? I mean start to finish. I ask because your opinion of Beck seems to echo that of the mainstream media. It is a bit ironic that a majority of the main stream media outlets (News channels, newspaper, etc…) are going down hill while Becks ratings keep rising even with active attempts to boycott his show.
While I don’t agree with Beck in regards to McCain being a worse option than Obama I repeatedly said throughout the presidential campaign that we had two very bad options as we did. If McCain was elected would we now own car makers, financial institutions, and would federally backed organizations hold nearly all of the home loans in the market? I can’t answer that indefinitely but I’d be willing to bet it wouldn’t be to this scale. I’d also be willing to bet “the public option” wouldn’t be on the table for health care reform. If McCain followed the same path as OBama he would have just as many people standing up in protest to his horrible policies as Obama is seeing. So in my opinion Beck is wrong on this one but not by much. I also said casting my vote in the last election wasn’t something I was excited about by any stretch of the imagination.
My opinion on Beck as a regular viewer of his program: He constantly corrects anyone who refers to him as a journalist by telling them that he is an opinion guy. In other words take what he provideds and do your own research to either validate or invalidate your opinion on the matter, similar to Rush in that way but Beck presents far more supportive evidence than Rush does(FYI: Rush has always been vocal about his disagreement/disapproval with McCain but neither Rush or Beck should validate a persons opinion on a candidate). If he or his team can’t validate something he’s straightforward about that as he was in regards to the FEMA internment camp rumor that surfaced. Think for yourself. Beck, his listeners/viewers, and his research staff uncover a great deal of information that would otherwise go unnoticed as the mainstream media ignores certain things until they don’t have any other choice but to cover it. Look at Van Jones, and look at John Holdren: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/07/21/obamas-science-czar-considered-forced-abortions-sterilization-population-growth/
A perfect example of the media ignoring stories is with the ACORN scandals and corruption. The mainstream media ignored the embezzlement charges against the former founder of ACORN and the ties to other notable figures but Beck didn’t. Only until recently when the ACORN worker with great customer service skills did all she could to help a pimp and ho find a way to make prostitution and importing underage girls from overseas legal did the media actual cover some of the corruption. And now President Obama is playing stupid even though he was formerly an ACORN attorney and organizer, and an ACORN subsiderary received money from Obamas campaign during his presidential campaign. I’m sure you remember, they listed it as “Stage lighting and Sound” when it was a get out the vote portion of ACORN.
ACORNS superb customer service skills: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnPJK_QDVX4
Back to Beck, he is too much of a salesmen of himself in regards to his books, comedy tours, etc… for my taste but he is making his living. I watched the entire interview with Katie Couric and I enjoyed it.
In regards to your flawed rhetorical question: “Do you think he’d ever reveal this sentiment on his own show? ” I found the clip of the Katie Couric interview on the front page of his website GlennBeck.com (Who visits this website you might ask? Uhhhhhhh…..Glenn Beck Viewers) so he is obviously not hiding the interview. Who knows, maybe if you watched his show you might just see him talk about the interview and what he said. You never know.
To sum it up: Beck is very self orientated as am I but his self promotion can get in the way of his message.
I would suggest listening or watching some of the people you disagree with and take the time to analyze where you stand on the subject at hand. Question everything. I watch the main stream media multiple times a week, particularly on Sunday and listen to the many views that oppose mine to give myself the best chance to decipher the truth from the BS, everyone should do the same.

Wow!!! Ryan had a lot to say. I watched a lot of the interview and I think Beck is an idiot who just tries to get attention!!!! Didn’t care for comment he made about Obama being a racist……Oh come on, did he forget his mother was white!!!! I was going to take the time to find out where I could make a comment to him so Ryan did help me with that!

@Ryan Kazinec – Hey Ryan. Here’s the thing with me. I don’t have to watch over and over to recognize BS when I see and hear it! And Beck is full of BS! You’re right, he’s not an investigative reporter – this I fully know – which is why it is AMAZING to me that so many people follow a man who ONLY spouts his opinion! Heck, everyone has an opinion, but Beck’s opinions are not something I agree with – hence my refusal to watch him. I REFUSE to be one of the “rating boosters” for him. Nah, forget it. And trust me my friend, I read just as much as you and form my own opinion! I am not one who goes along with the mainstream media or the majority just for the sake of doing so. Just because I disagree with the “rhetoric” that Beck and other right wingers are spewing doesn’t mean I’m a follower.
Beck is full of S%^t! Plain and simple! Yeah, he was one of those who spoke about ACORN, but so what? Alot of other people did too!
Now I will say I’m surprised he put the interview on his site. It still doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s a self-absorbed, nonfact spewing, idiot!

@Karol Ann – Hi Karol Ann! I, 100%, agree with you!

@Kim Sawyer – Beck certainly is very opinionated as you both highlighted but to say he’s a non-fact spewing idiot is inaccurate. Beck provides plenty of facts/evidence that usually come in the form of video, audio, and documents straight from the horses mouth. But seeing how you probably haven’t watched a single entire show with an open mind then I find it hard to believe the opinion you have of him is well thought out at all. But Kim, you are certainly entitled to an opinion.
Oh, and Beck addressed the McCain comment on his show yesterday. I just want to make it very clear that he addressed it on HIS show. So to sum it up: What you originally thought or the opinion you came up with was DEAD wrong. Imagine that.
When you get a minute, watch his explanation and let me know your opinion.

@Ryan Kazinec – Ryan, honestly, I could care less if you feel that my opinion of him is not well thought out. Your opinion on that is well, irrelevant to me. Like I said in my comment before, I don’t have to waddle throught BS to know that I’m in BS and Beck is full of BS!
I have given most shows on FoxNews a chance and like I’ve stated in earlier posts, I like O’Reilly. I think, for the most part, he is fair. Beck is not! Plus, he’s a liar! He went on his show and talked about how Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg “dissed” him on a plane they were all on. Then when he went on The View and they confronted him, he wouldn’t even admit he was wrong. He said something like, ok, maybe it didn’t happen exactly the way I said, but…. Uh, Beck, it didn’t happen NOTHING like you said. See, it’s stuff like that that I have no tolerance for. So, I will not be a rating booster for a liar who sensationalizes things just to get viewers! Nope, not me!
Now, I was wrong when I said he wouldn’t show or talk about what he said about McCain and Obama on his show. I can admit that. In fact, I’m happy he did that, but as far as I’m concerned my opinion of him hasn’t changed. I think he just found a way to turn it around and use it to benefit him some sort of way. The bottom line is I believe he’s an opportunist. That’s my opinion and whether or not you like it….. Oh well!

Ryan, it seems to me like Beck explained what he meant, but didn’t change what he said. The reference to Obama throwing us in boiling water is interesting. Couple that with your insistence that you aren’t a Republican and I smell something rotten. Things were very wrong on many fronts in our country before the end of January. AND, don’t you dare blame it on Bill Clinton! Your boy, Bush, is to blame and that is obvious. We needed something done to change things and Obama has done just that. While I don’t agree with everything he’s done, I know we needed something because of what Bush did. I guess you think we should have stayed the course, and went down in flames because of what Bush did. Is that what you would want?
Neither party is wrong all the time, but the Republicans had 8 years to screw things up royally. Job well done on that front – now let someone else give it a shot would you?
I have to speak about racism. If someone were to say racism doesn’t exist or hasn’t been more mainstream since Obama took office, I would say that person is in denial or lives in a bubble. Having said all of that, it is so ignorant or obvious. Ignorant because Obama is half white too. Obvious because many people think half black means black period – racism pure and simple.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
