Nobody Feels Finer Than North Carolina
Written by: O
OK, let’s forget all of this preseason poll business because the #1 team in college basketball next season will be the North Carolina Tar Heels. Why? Well, it started when last year’s national Player of the Year, Tyler Hansbrough, came back to North Carolina for his senior season instead of leaving to go to the pros. Now it has finished with all of the 3 Tar Heels who declared for the NBA draft, Wayne Ellington, Tywon Lawson, and Danny Green, all have returned to play with the Tar Heels next year. All of college basketball knows who will be THE best to beat next season well before school even starts.
There’s another thing that must be talked about. The run that Carolina is about to go on now that this team has been assembled – the freshman class, which will be a good one, will include Ed Davis, Larry Drew Jr., Luke Zeller, and Justin Watts. However, what Carolina fans are salivating at is the 2009 incoming class that will team up with the 2008 class, which is led by Dexter Strickland, Leslie McDonald, and John Henson. In other words, for the rest of the decade, the North Carolina Tar Heels are going to be loaded.
It won’t be unprecedented in Tar Heel country to have so many good teams and a lot of talent. What could be unprecedented is the success. For years, North Carolina has been so close, only to miss out. Remember, this season, UCLA and North Carolina tied each other with 18 appearances in the Final 4. The difference is that UCLA has 11 national titles while North Carolina has 4. The next couple of seasons, North Carolina will be expected to change that, starting with next season.
What do you think?

O, you know how I feel. They could have a NBA lineup, which they almost do, and the odds are still against them winning it all. They aren’t as good as UCLA was when they had talent.

Duke Rules?????? This year Carolina will beat them by 20 or more in both meetings. This year will also show whether or not Coach K can “coach” or not.
