Michael Jackson’s Death Evokes Strong Emotions!

Written by: Kim Sawyer

Whether you loved him or thought he should’ve been convicted of crime, you can’t deny that Michael Jackson’s death elicited some sort of emotional response in you. But, how strong was that emotion? Was it strong enought to make you want to chase someone around a bus with a knife because that person did not feel the same way about Michael Jackson that you did? Well, there is at least one person who can answer yes to this question.

Henry Wideman, a 54-year-old man, of Miami, Florida, was riding a bus in Miami when another passenger, James Kiernan, read out loud a text message informing of Michael Jackson’s death. The bus driver decided to voice his opinion by stating, “Michael Jackson should have been in jail long ago” and Kiernan responded with, “the world just lost a great musical talent.”

Henry Wideman decided to join the conversation and began cursing at Kiernan, who in turn, cursed back at Wideman. Wideman then pulled out a knife and began chasing Kiernan down the bus aisle. Yes! Wideman chased Kiernan down the aisle, with a knife because he disagreed with Kiernan! So, what did the bus driver do? He called dispatch, pulled over and waited for the cops who arrested Wideman and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Now, keep in mind, this all happened because of emotions concerning Michael Jackson! I’m sure this is not the only incident where emotions were raging concerning Michael’s death, but if you were on the bus with Wideman and Kiernan, what would you have done? Of course, I think Wideman was totally in the wrong, but there may be some of you who agree with him so I cautiously ask the question, whose side would you have been on – Wideman or Kiernan?

Kim, this is absurd! lol. I would have been on whatever side would keep me out of jail and harm’s way! I am so very, very sad Michael is gone but I didn’t receive a dime of his money, wasn’t a close friend or family member, not really a “devoted” fan or follower, etc., so to get in this type of altercation or even have these strong of feelings is just bizarre to me! It is entertaining to read this though and know that there are people with that strong emotion for him. I will say, I didn’t let anybody talk about him and the child mol…. thing to me. I figure the mothers/parents should have been on trial and not Michael. Anyhoo… I grew up with Michael and he became a staple of the world as an iconic entertainer. I was an admirer and was highly entertained by all aspects of him and his talents. Recently, I have listened to a lot of his songs, radio stations after radio station, which is a good thing, and I listened to his song when he was full grown and I could still hear that same little voice singing Ben or ABC. Wow…. it is so hard to imagine he is gone.

This is a whole other post but you know who I would like to talk to? Lisa Marie Presley! Can you imagine being connected to the two BIGGEST music icons in the United States? I did hear a statement she gave saying years ago she and MJ had a conversation and he was afraid he would end up like her father. She said in essence, yes he did.

@Kathy Curry – I know – isn’t this crazy?!!!! By looking at his videos this past weekend, I was reminded how talented he was. I wasn’t a real fan though. I also heard that statement he supposedly made to Lisa Marie. How ironic, huh? Now, though there’s all kinds of speculation out there about his death – some are saying the doctor murdered him! I don’t know – it’s just so surreal.

I have a friend who was so devastated when she heard about his death. She could not stop crying and she’s almost 50! He has a very strong fan base seriously.

This situation is just another in a long line of examples of hate. Why would someone risk their freedom over a debate that was handled in a court of law? Someone commented on another article and said we are a nation of laws.

If someone like this feels so strongly about how the legal system handled the case, I would really encourage them to start a movement to change something in the legal system. Why would I be all for something like this? Because the end result would probably be the total opposite of what this gentleman wants and some people previously untouchable would be in jail.

See, people choose who to hate/dislike in such a hypocritical way. Examples aren’t even necessary, but anyone who feels this way about Michael Jackson should examine how they feel about others who allegedly committed a crime and those who weren’t formally charged but are known to do criminal acts.

@Tom Sawyer – I think people just get caught up in their emotions and react without thinking. That’s why it’s so important to not let your emotions control you because emotions can change at the drop of a dime!
