Is President Bush The Worst Ever?

Written by: Tom Sawyer

This morning a news show reported only 1 in 4 Americans look at President Bush favorably.  I’m sure it has something to do with the current recession – the fact that he isn’t 100% to blame doesn’t really matter to many.  It could possibly have something to do with how he has handled the country since 9/11.  Have we given up the search for those weapons of mass destruction (WMD) yet?  At any rate, I think it will be interesting, to say the least, to see how his legacy plays out.

I think President Bush was talking about his legacy during a recent interview and I will give him credit for one thing: he acts and talks as if the public has a high opinion of him.  Of course, that is my opinion of him or at least what I took from the short time I watched the interview.

It is Friday (thank God) and we want to have a relaxing long weekend leading up to the inauguration next week so how about a little fun?  Let’s do some word association.  I will try to keep it at one word. Feel free to add your own if you feel so inclined.

President Bush’s election – shady (hanging chads?)

President Bush’s re-election – unbelievable

9/11 – heartbreaking

Allegedly letting Bin Laden’s family and/or friends leave the country after 9/11 – notachance

Iraq – oil

Searching for WMDs – oil

Thinking about the 4,000+ men and women who have died in the war – avoidable

President Bush making a speach – shoes  :D

I watched him give his farewell speech. Here are my words:

    Bush – bless his heart.

Laura – stand by your man!

    Cheney – wore out.

The people in the room last night as he gave his speech – relieved he is leaving even if they are Republicans!

    USA – ready for Obama!

Obama – After Bush, I can do anything and they will think I’m great!

    I’m just saying….

    I can play this game:

    Bush – Disappointing and Tired

    Laura – Beautiful and Eloquent

    Cheney – Poor Aim

    USA – Losing its reign

    Obama – Misguided and Worshiped

    Michelle – No Comment

    US Government – Filthy Crooks

Circuit City – Eye Opener for the Naive

I could keep going but I’ll refrain.

If you really want to know Bush’s legacy, I say look at your own! Try to put yourself in the shoes of the people you don’t talk to at work. You know…the people that don’t like you. How would you rate yourself if you were they? Would they rate you as the best Airman ever? If the entire air force had to rate your performance, where would you stand? Do you have the awards and metals to prove your greatness? Would the lack of accolades (awards and metals) be indicative of your ineptness? How many metals do you have? Can you retire and said you did your job?

Without a shadow of doubt, I can (and will) say I retired and did my job! If I look at awards and medals (not metals), I have enough, but every one of them were earned. I have never did anything just to get a medal – that is one problem we have right now. People worry more about rewards than they do about the mission. People who do things with praise in mind aren’t genuine – this is my opinion of course.

There are people who don’t like me and that is going to happen in life. However, there are many people who come into my office, sit on the couch and shoot the breeze. They know they can come and talk to me about whatever and I’m not going to look at them like an alien or talk down to them. Those are the people know I “work with them” rather than loving to say I’m the boss or they work for me. Those are the people who know I’m going to treat everyone like human beings and not step on someone’s back for my own gain. D The people who I supervise know what kind of person I am and have told me on many occasions that they like working where they work and don’t want to move anywhere else. o you have any idea how rewarding that is? Honestly, I would take that over an award from any president, general, etc.

Realizing I’m not for everyone, I’m grateful for every Airmen who calls me back and sends me an email.

You know, the Air Force, and the fact that I’m in it have never entered into this blog. This is the first time it has ever been mentioned on 7daybuzz and it is ironic that it is mentioned by someone who obviously knows me and has an axe to grind. But I would like to thank you for forcing me to think about this. I know it wasn’t your intended goal, but because of you I’m holding my head a little higher today knowing I did things with integrity for 20 years! Thank you again.
