“I Get Lost in a Blizzard of Words….”

Written by:

Said Charles Gibson of ABC World News to Sarah Palin, in her first interview without John McCain being attached to her hip.  As I watched this interview, I came to the definite conclusion that this lady was coached on how to answer certain questions.  The one thing that is very clear is that she cannot (or will not answer) questions simply with a yes or no.  She answered with a lot of words, but no substance behind them.  From this interview, and I understand there will be a couple more, I came to the conclusion that this lady is extremely inexperienced for the Vice-President position.  The only experience she has (as I see it) is within the energy realm.  To me, her experience with energy only aids the concerns that she is of the same mindset of Bush and now McCain, which cements for me the notion that if McCain is elected, we will definitely have another four years of Bush!

Palin is a good talker, no doubt about it.  But aren’t all conmen (or in Palin’s case, con-women)?  At least, this is my take on the Alaska Governor.  Am I off track?

What I don’t understand is how everyone is so quick to beat Sarah down on her experience. O’bama doesn’t have much (possibly not as much) more experience than her and lets not forget, he is running for PRESIDENT. (Not VP) O’bama was sworn into office as a senator Jan. 4, 2005. Wow! He’s got a whopping 3 1/2 years experience with a very questionable voting record. Before that he was a civil rights attorney. So I ask you this, if Palin with two years as a governor and experience as a city council member and mayor dating back to 1992 isn’t enough to be VP, how in Gods name is O’bama’s experience enough to be President? Come on people quit beating her down.

Hi Ryan. Welcome to 7daybuzz. Well, I am only basing my opinion of her on the interview I saw today. She never really gave simple answers to the questions Charles Gibson asked. In addition, she really believes that National Security is all about energy! Don’t you think that shows more inexperience on her part in comparison with Obama’s inexperience?

Thanks for the warm welcome. I understand what your basing your blog entry on and I understand. To go back to Obama, did you see the interview on the O’reaily Factor? Obama did some of the same type of dancing around questions(watch the portion where Bill asks about the Rev and his other worrisome friends) that Sarah did in this interview. (I’ll have to youtube it, because I haven’t seen it yet) I haven’t dove into researching there stances on national security so I’d be ignorant to comment on this. I will reiterate that she is running for VP not President like Obama, so realistically Obama’s experience should tower over her. I’ve added your RSS feed and look forward to more friendly debates and once I get a chance to give an educated answer to your question I will. Thanks

Thanks for subscribing to our RSS feed. It’s greatly appreciated. Now, I do understand what you’re saying about Obama not giving straight answers. I didn’t see his interview with O’Reilly but I have seen him do that on other interviews. I know Sarah is only running for VP, but with McCain being as old as he is, Sarah could very well be our next president, so she should know that National Security is not about energy! Even Obama knows that. Of course, this is only an issue IF McCain-Palin are elected.:–)

Charlie Gibson did not “interview” Sarah tonight. Charlie’s “interrogation” of her lacked journalistic integrity and here’s why. First of all this “interview” was clearly cut and spliced (quite poorly I might add) which left the viewers wondering what was left out. Did Charlie only use clips that suited his opinions/bias…..hummmm…..did he???? We won’t ever know what comments of Sarah’s lay on the cutting room floor. Secondly, we should rightly assume that Charlie would use the same warm smiling demeanor and open ended questions that he used with Obama. Wrong assumption. With a scowl he fired off questions demanding one word answers. Really now, can you really call this kind of “inquisition” an interview?? The “getting lost in a blizzard of words” comment could be identified by both liberals and comservatives as a SNARKY comment. The bottom line is that we were not allowed to hear Sarah’s reasons for the yes/no answers she was made to give (which would have been very beneficial). We wanted to hear all of her words and If Charlie couldn’t fit them into the puny little few minutes he devoted to them then move the conversation to another time slot. Poor form Charlie.

Hi joanieb. Welcome to 7daybuzz. Okay, I will admit that it is apparent that some editing occurred to the interview clip. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that Sarah still thinks National Security is all about energy. Sorry that I keep harping on that, but it amazed me that she actually said that. I think Charlie was amazed too.

American politics is the name of the game. This is how the game is played. I also watched the interview, Upon conclusion of that interview and the facts about her I already know. There is no way you can tell me that a 44 year old woman from Alaska with a BA in jounrnalism is ready to be the Commander in Chief (CINC) of the greatest super power in the world. We can talk about many things but I will focus on this point. Sen. John McCain is 72 years old….The normal life expectancy for men is 74. You do the math! I predict Sen. John McCain kicking the bucket not far from now! Is this country ready for Gov. Palin to be CINC? Since when does a Bachelors degree from the University of IDAHO in journalism trump a Law degree from Harvard? When does a change in politics from the same ol same ol burancacy trump true CHANGE? In the most important time in U.S. history we need a leader that can inspire Americans. Not someone that reminds us of the good ol soccer mom(soccer moms don’t look like that). AMERICA SHE IS NOT THE REPLUBICAN VERSION OF HILLARY CLINTON..But Sen. McCain wants you to think that!

Hi Mr. Summers. Welcome to 7daybuzz. I think you make excellent points! Unfortunately, there are those who do not want to see a Black man in the office no matter what, that they’ll accept someone like Palin instead.

  13. Kim Sawyer Says:

Hi Janvieve. Welcome to 7DayBuzz. Your statement about Palin is proving to be accurate, based on the interviews she’s done thus far. The debate this Thursday against Biden should be humorous and interesting, don’t you think?

  14. Stub Says:

I’ve been intrigued by this so called ‘experience’ comparison between Obama, McCain and Palin. It seems to me that Bush and his cabinet had plenty of ‘experience’; but apparently this was insufficient (Katrina, Iraq, economy). We are all guided by our experience; but are we all adaptive when our experience doesn’t meet the a new situation or challenge? In the evaluation of candidates for Pres and VP, is there is more to this comparison than proximity to Russia or years in a government position? With Obama I see a new philosophy of governance that is not hindered by an inappropriate focus on partisanship. Scott McClellan describes in his book ‘What Happened’, the negative consequences to governance by the ‘permanent campaign’. Obama’s campaign is organized and successful. He is inspiring in his speeches and his ideas are appeal to our better nature and in influential overseas. His background predisposes him to an honest, non ideological intellectual analysis that has been missing in the Bush administration. At best, McCain is a moderate politician that chose to use deceptive tactics (read Karl Rove) used in the Bush campaign. Palin’s inarticulate generic statements simply show that she had not the time to expand her Wasilla / Alaska vision to the national stage. Under what conditions would McCain ‘suspend’ his presidency to ‘reform’ government? Would a McCain-Palin administration be characterized by strife? Does ‘maverick’ = continual firings and fighting over earmarks in the name of ‘accountability’? Would he have to ‘suspend’ his presidency to micromanage one of the many issues in our complex nation?

  15. Kim Sawyer Says:

Hi Stub. Welcome to 7DayBuzz. Excellent comment. As the campaigning continues, true colors are being exposed, don’t you think? McCain is a joke and Palin….Well, what words truly describe her?
