Hospital Worker Kills Two Before Turning Gun On Self

Written by: Tom Sawyer

“A hospital worker shot and killed two employees and then killed himself at a medical center Thursday, sending panicked people fleeing, police and witnesses said.

The gunman was identified as Mario Ramirez, 50, of Alhambra, who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. The victims were Hugo Bustamante, 46, of Cypress, who died at the scene, and Kelly Hales, 56, of Redondo Beach, who was taken to the hospital’s emergency room in critical condition and died several hours later.”

Scenes like this are becoming too common; what was once an incident that would be appalling to us all has become routine.  Violent acts such as this and Sandra Cantu’s murder should stop us dead in our tracks and make us think.  Instead, we seem to have become numb to it.

The Mario Ramirez’s and Melissa Huckaby’s of the world should serve as an example to us all.  The need to become an example of what we aren’t supposed to do.  Innocent people aren’t supposed to get killed by random acts of violence.  Little girls aren’t supposed to get raped, killed and stuffed in suitcases.

What is the answer?  Do you feel things like this are getting the attention they deserve or should more emphasis be placed on people maintaining morals and doing one little thing for us all.  How about if these people try their best to quit killing?!!!

Extra

Las Vegas resident Albanisha Jones, 20, was arrested on a drug charge, but that charge could be the least of her moral and legal problems.  It seems Jones left her baby unattended on the side of the road.

I guess Rick James was right: Cocaine is a powerful drug!

Locals are commenting on this story and it is getting ugly.  This is turning into a racial situation for many even though the potential crimes seems to have nothing to do with color.  Race just doesn’t seem important in this case.

Let’s stay focused.

When I hear of cases like this, my question always is, how do these people grow criminal intentions and what happens in their minds/lives to make them actually carry them out? Taking a life and then continuing on with your own life as if nothing changed (ie – the Sunday School teacher) is really unbelievable. I would be a basket case and would probably end up blurting out what I had done. I see movies where innocent people run over someone on the highway or street. No fault of their own. The person just walked out in front of their car and they couldn’t help it. I pray and ask God not to even let something like happen to me because I know me; I would not be able to live with it.

Tom you're right, unfortunately these types of horrifying events are becoming all too common! But still, I try to stop and pray for each and every family when I hear of the tragedies. When it a crime against a child, I say throw them under the jail!

I agree with Kathy. But, violence has always been a part of life. We hear more about it because of communications today so it does seem like we are more exposed. We, as a country, have turned our backs on God in the interest of being politically correct. We are seeing the moral decline that comes with this. Families are breaking down because so many parents are out there working all the time instead of making do with less and spending more time with their kids. Things are becoming more important than life itself. I think most kids would trade their electronics for some one on one attention from their parents anytime. Without God in our lives there is no conscience and then anything goes.
