Today, We Give Thanks

Written by: User ImageTom Sawyer (Who am I?)

Some days it is best to give thanks, a way to give a verbal testimony about the good things in your life. We all know we hear about the bad things in the world as well as the troubles of our friends and family - sometimes we are the ones talking about the bad things.

In all things, we should give thanks.  It is just that simple.  I would like to hear from you and what you have to give thanks for.  It isn’t about what you need, but about what you already have.

I will speak first.

In the other room I have a healthy wife and little girl.  For the first time, I have a family (I’m not discounting my wife, but now there are three of us).  What an emotional couple of days this has been.  I miss my mother and wish she could have been here to share in this time, but two of my sisters were here and I know if not for distance my other sister and brother would have been here.  I’m thankful for them as well.

I will speak for O - he writes the great sports articles that seem to go un-noticed.  He lives in Texas and he is enjoying a new addition to his family as well.  His wife recently had a little boy and as far as I know everyone is doing well.

Now it is your turn.

There are so many things I am thankful for. First and for most, I am thankful for the freedom and opportunity to serve God openly and in the fashion that best suits me. Without Him, I would be nothing!

• I must say one of the things that warms my heart the most is knowing I have family and friends that love me. There are days and moments where that offers real comfort. Last night I was talking on the phone to my son. I am thankful for a son who gives time to his mother. He could be so strung out on this, that, or the other that talking to me would be the last thing on his mind.
• I am thankful for my daughter who keeps me on my toes.
• I am sooooooo very thankful for my beautiful grandson. There is NOTHING like a grandchild! (can I hear some amens!)
• I’m thankful for a beautiful new, fresh from heaven niece named K!
• I am thankful for all of my extended family.
• I am thankful for my best girlfriends, my two sisters.
• I’m thankful for my guy guidance counselors, my daddy, and my two brothers.
• I’m thankful for my darling husband. Wow. What a difference a year makes!
• I’m thankful for my job and all the material things the Lord has afforded me to have.
• I’m thankful for peace.

This topic is one of the most monumental ones we’ve ever had because the list of things we are and should be thankful for, could go on forever! There is so much more I am thankful for, but for now, I will just say, thank you Lord for being good to me!

I don’t even know where to begin in my thanks really except with my heavenly Father who is the source of everything I am and hope to be and for my earthly Father and my mother (One of those “gone too soon”), who gave me so much guidance and an example of how thankful and blessed we ar and should be. I’m thankful for all my family, immediate and extended, my sista girls, church folk, friends with and without benefits, my co-workers, and yes, even my enemies - they help me stay prayed up. I guess it’s OK to be thankful also for an inanimate object so I’m thankful for my Bible, the road map I need to stay straight. I hate to single anyone out but…..I’m so thankful that K is here and that I got to be there moments after she made her grand entrance!
Peace to you all

First and foremost, let me thank our Heavenly Father because without him, I am nothing. Second, I am so thankful that my Heavenly Father blessed me with a wonderful husband and beautiful daughter! I am thankful that I have a roof over my head. I am thankful that I have a job, especially in this horrible economy that we have. I am thankful that I have food in the fridge. I am thankful that I have health benefits. I am thankful for family and friends. Shoot, what can I say, except that I am thankful!!!!!!!!

I’m grateful for God’s love, mercy and blessing on my family and I. I’m thankful for my health; I’m thankful God blessed me to be a humble human being; I’m thankful for my knowledge, wisdom and intellect, my ability to look for good in every situation, even though I sometime fall short of that goal, I’m still thankful that I at least tried. I’m thankful I have job, a root over my head, food in my belly, and the ability to get more when all that is gone….And most of all, I’m thankful for the day God blessed me with my three little angels (they are not so little anymore). I enjoy every day that I have with my children. I take pride and joy in watching them grow into adulthood. It gives me pleasure to watch them enjoy a good meal, to laugh out loud, to give me a hug, to share their ideals, to fulfill their goals, to work through their problem, to achieved academic success, to articulate themselves, the list goes on…I’m thankful God blessed me to be a “Mother”.

Congratulation Tom and Kim on the birth of your beautiful baby girl K! You have truly been blessed beyond your wildest imagination! Enjoy every moment of being a parents. I dedicate a song to you both, I’m not sure of the name, but it’s by Yolanda Adams: God Blessed the Day he sent my little Angel to me…
