Calling All Christians! WWJD, 7 Day Challenge!

Written by: User ImageKathy Curry (Who am I?)

The phrase “What would Jesus do?” (often abbreviated to WWJD) became popular in the United States in the 1890s, and again in 1990s, as a personal motto for thousands of Christians who used the phrase as a reminder of their belief that Jesus is the example to be followed in daily life, and to act in a manner of which Jesus would approve.

Is that true for you and me?  You do claim to be a Christian don’t you?  You do want Christ to be pleased with your actions, reactions, deeds, etc. don’t you?  Let’s see if we can’t make Him just as proud of us, as we are of Him!

Let’s take one week and change our thinking.  Let’s take one week and try as Christians to get in the mind of Christ.  We have read the scriptures and heard the sermons; we know the difference between our actions and those of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Aren’t we as “Christ”ians supposedly striving to be Christ-like?  Aren’t we taking the Christ in Christianity and trying to identify with it and be like Him?  Well let’s do it together and then let’s talk about the change it made in our lives spiritually and naturally.  Stopping and asking What Would Jesus Do before everything we do, will certainly have an impact on EVERYTHING concerning our lives.  If we can promote Pay It Forward challenges, and weight lost challenges, and all kinds of reality challenges, let’s doubly promote this challenge!   It is the: 7daybuzz.com WWJD 7 Day Challenge!

Tell everybody you know what you are doing and invite them to join in the 7daybuzz.com WWJD challenge!  This challenge won’t cost you.  This challenge won’t hurt you. (well maybe your pride if you have to turn the other cheek or something flesh defying)  I can truthfully say, if done properly, the only thing this challenge can do and will do is make you more conscious of who you are and Whose you are.  This might be just the thing you need and I need to expose us to us!  We really don’t know who we are.  Fact:  we never see ourselves the same way others see us!  Maybe living this lifestyle for a week (hopefully it will be one we will choose to adopt forever) will close the gap between who we think we are, and who we really are.  So starting today, let’s do this!

Hopefully you have prayed for the last week and have programmed your mind to begin questioning yourself and asking, What Would Jesus Do?  Now let’s put it into action.

Next Sunday I anxiously look forward to hearing the stories and life changing experiences the WWJD challenge brought about.  I think we will surprise ourselves, each and every one of us, when we realize how far we were from true Christ like actions and our own fleshly actions.  Don’t make this a burden but make it a joyful occasion for a renewal within your spirit.  There will be times when you/I fail.  WE will think about WWJD and then do the opposite because our flesh is geared toward self satisfaction.  Okay.  Get up.  Brush off, but don’t stop!  Get back on the horse and continue with the challenge.  If at first you don’t succeed, keep trying!  That’s what Jesus would do, right?

Just remember, before you do it, ask yourself WWJD?  Before you say it, ask yourself WWJD?  Before you think it, ask yourself WWJD?  We’ll talk soon!

Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

What about this scripture???? We can’t think or imagine what Christ would do with any kind of certainty because we aren’t able to conceive to a WWJD level.

Ro 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

More evidence that we are not able to figure out WWJD

I hear what you are saying but aren’t we striving to be like Christ?

None of us know what each other would think or do, but we give gifts with an individual in mind anticipating their reaction by what we know about them. I think as we get seasoned in God, and get to know Him, we should know, from His word, what would please Him, Therefore we strive to be like Him, act like Him, and react like Him. If we aren’t living for Him in this manner while following Him, we might as well hang it up. Of course we know He is omnipotent and sovereign. We can only live a life with actions that we pray will please Him.

Get rooted deeper in Him my friend. Then maybe you won’t be the devil’s advocate on this one, but actually strive as any of us participating in the challenge, to be more like Him and please Him.

I’ve got to agree with Mike on this one.

Looking at those verses he posted how could you say he was being the Devil’s advocate?
It’s not us doing the thinking sis. That’s the problem with the WWJD do “theology.” The bible tells us to be “lead by the spirit..” You sound like you might be somewhat intelligent…at times… so let me ask you this….????

What kind of imput is need from a person if they are being lead?? Unless i’m totally ignorant the answer is “none.” Right?????

So let take this to it’s logical conclusion…….

When moses had the encounter with the rock….and we know that that rock was Christ…how much input was required from Moses? Moses didn’t try and figure out what the Rock would do did he????

Slow down and think about what I’ve said nefore you try and fiigure out your answer based your preconceived idiology.
The WWJD philosophy is based upon some unspiritual person’s intellectual conclusion (the real devil in this mess)

The bible says: ” Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13)” Do you not understand that that is the answer to the WWJD question???

Our thought process is excluded fron the process sis….Totally excluded. So to be technically correct from an apostolic perspective this is a question that no spiritual person even need address. Jesus has already done everything for the believer when he completed the salvation process.

WWJD must first be looked at in grammically correct structure. It is a question. So the correct presentation of this must always be as follows..WWJD?
Now we have something that we can scripturally examine..

The question…What would Jesus do?

The answer…No one , and i mean no one, knows………..

We don’t lead the spirit (Christ) he leads us…so if you go back to this: ” Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13)”

In my conclusion: This is why the church must stop following the doctrines of devils and devil’s advocates. Just because it sounds catchy (I almost said Kathy…lol) doesn’t mean it’s biblically correct.
Tell you what I’ve scriptually proved my point, why don’t you scriptually prove yours???

Why not call on summa your kinfolk to help you..and don’t forget to ask Petey Wheatstraw.

Thank you for proving what this challenge is about: being lead… but listen, you live in America! The one thing you know for sure is, you can do whatever you want! And what you seem to want is to not participate in this challenge. No problem. This is for those of us who take WWJD in the spirit it is meant to be. It definitely is not for everyone!

I think the concept is wonderful, to stop before we react or speak a word that we truly say to ourselves what would Christ do. The scripture was so excellently quoted to help us to draw our mind back to Christ Jesus, Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. When the Spirit of Christ has come in He will lead you and guide you into all truth, and one of those truths is that in the Book of James 1:19, Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Sometimes, we do not let the Spirit of truth lead us and guide us. We walk in our fleshly spirit, doing and acting out of our fleshly spirit, What Would Jesus Do… is good to draw our minds back that we are to be a light unto the world. not walk in the flesh, that we fulfil lust of the flesh, but that we walk in the spirit of righteousness, not our righteousness which of fithly rags, but the righteousness of the Spirit of Truth(Jesus)

Wow…Shirley you have been doing some studying…..Nice stuff.

John the baptist I get your drift man and I think you have the same idea on this as me.I think Shirely and Kathy are trying to motivate people to think about living saved which is a good thing. Too bad we gotta use gimmics when all people need to do is read, fast and pray. The scripture in James is exactly right. Maybe James should have told us to “think” about WWJD?

Comment by no imageShirley (Who am I?)
2008-07-28 13:52:09

Mike, I do not believe in gimmicks, but think about how many times we have reacted to a situation inappropriately and then say to ourselves Lord forgive me, I know that was not you speaking. Why, because we did not allow ourselves to be lead by the Spirit of Truth. I agree if we would do as the scripture has said, If My people which are called by My name, shall humble themselves pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin, and heal their land. We are like children and things have to be rehearsed in our minds, even Jesus when He taught the disciples, down through the scripture He would repeat The Word to them again somewhere else in scripture, for them to get it down in the inward part. We are in a time in Christendom, were you never take down or compromise, but some Saints have become weak in faith, and they are allowing the cares of this life to dictate their actions and reactions; they are not all walking by faith, they are not all praying, and fasting. But if their minds could be drawn back to Who they belong too; Why are they saved; Why are they suffering things that they are. Everytime something occurs and they can think about t Jesus WHAT WOULD JESUS DO, and how when He was reviled, He did not revile back again. The suffering that He went through. And He said if you suffer with Me, you shall also reign with Me. Yes, I want as many people saved as Jesus has called.

Shirley, I enjoyed reading your comments. Happy to have you join us!

Mike/John: because I am still a fleshy vessel, I admit, there are times when I will have to be brought back to reality, even about some of my actions being saved. Bless you if you stay in the right frame of mind even with studying, fasting, and prayer. I don’t. With my flesh, there are times when my spirit would probably be approved of by God and then something carnal comes along and throws me. Hopefully, those times are becoming fewer and fewer. But I still need EVERYTHING I can to walk in the manner acceptable to Christ. For me it is a “whatever it takes” kind of thing! As the old timers would say, I mean to make heaven! Let me walk around for a week asking myself, What Would Jesus Do in the situations I’m facing.. I understand, I won’t know for sure what He would do, but after being rooted in Christ and the teachings of Christ all of these years, hopefully, this week (:o) I can come close to pleasing Him with my actions.

I say again, if this challenge isn’t for you, I understand. You seem to be at a different place.

To one of the comments that was made. Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments. We are still in the flesh. But Jesus let us to know because He is perfect, that ” we are to be ye perfect”, because we have the perfect one abiding down in our soul. We have the Holy Ghost which is the fulness of the Godhead bodily dwelling with in us, and through Jesus I can overcome myself. Yes, it is a constant working on self, not anyone else, but self, that we may be found worthy in the eyes of God. For He said, be ye holy for Iam Holy. Jesus also said “work out your salvation with fear and trembling”. That is the reason fasting, praying and reading the Word of God is so important. The Word Of God it cleanse us. when we allow it to work in our lives.

John I have a slight problem with the word obedient unto my husband. Submissive to him would sound more appropriate. Since the Word of God tells the wife to be submitted unto her husband, but then the scripture goes a little farther, husband do likewise. I agree with you I should do–What Would Jesus Do, and so far by God Grace it has helped a lot. It makes me think rather than reacting. Have You try it. You just might be surprise, the spiritual blessing that you will receive from the Lord. But I must confess I am doing all the other things to go along with that fasting, praying and reading the Word.

C’mon admit it. You’re just like Kim, Kathy, Angie and all these other saved sistas round heah.

You trying to play words games. Obedient v/s submissive like there is some kinda difference in the word. If you was married to me I’d have you under control.

….LOUDER!

WHO’SE YOU DADDY?

Very good, Yes Sarah did, But you know there is a scripture in the Bible which states. For No Man to Be lord of God’s heritage. But I have no problem with respecting my husband, I in need to inform you I am not married. But I have been, and I had no problem respecting my husband, nor did my husband have any problem respecting me. The scripture also says, Follow peace with all men, which without holiness, no man shall see God. Being submissive has no gender attached to it. It you have the Holy Ghost, you will find yourself being submissive to whoever has authority over you.

I am sorry, but I am saved. I do not disrespect leadership or authority on any level. If the Lord allows a child do be head of a program that child is do my respect, or just a child period is due my respect. I have no respect of person. Everyone whether I agree with them or not are do respect, and by God’s Grace and Mercy, I am going to respect people. So I am sorry but you have the wrong person, and your presumption of me is incorrect. The Bible says, give honor unto whom honor is due.

Good morning, everyone!

I have to admit when I went to bed last night I was not going to continue with this blog because I was yelled at! But you know, that’s life and the blogs this morning are so welcoming — thanks!

I am trying to ask WWJD in my situation. Am It is stretching me to love my enemies and to be patient with others.

Last fall I was fired from a Christian organization, not because I didn’t do my work, but because “I didn’t fit in.” I’ve found this is the new phrase used for age discrimination (I’m 60) but decided not to go the legal route.

Since my husband Dan and I have moved to the Denver, CO metro area in order to be closer to my family including my 2 sons. That part has been a blessing.

We’ve been here about a month and I am now looking for a job — I’ve been a pastor and editor among Friends (Quakers) since the mid 70s and there is only 1 church in Denver and they don’t need me. So I’m looking to new horizons and am on a new path that God has created. It’s hard to sit in Panera Bread with their wifi and send out so many resumes and hear nothing back expcept we have received your resume. I’m dealing with anger, disappointment and betrayal — all emotions Jesus experienced so I know He understands.

May God bless you on your fast today John.
