God Centered Prayers

Written by: John Fonzer Jr.

2Ch 1:10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

  •       Instead of asking for wealth, Solomon asked for the competence to rule God’s people.
  •       Because the desire of his heart unselfish (without pretending or acting humble), God gave him what he did not ask for.
  •       Note: It is not always necessary to ask God for some things.   Some things come with other things.  Mt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
  •       Check your heart.  Ask yourself, “Why do I want what I am praying for?”  Otherwise you might be asking God to do something for you to disprove someone else or to prove that you are more righteous than they are.
  •       God should have a reason to answer your prayers.

Re 4:9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created

The entirety of creation will honor the Lord.

  • Even the elders will lay their crowns and indications of royalty before Him who exceeds and supersedes them.
  • Who are we but what grace through faith has made us?  There is no power but God’s power.  The righteousness we enjoy and celebrate came from himanyway.
  •       When we pray we must recognize:
  •
    • His precedence over the most formidable and prominent issues.
    • That He was before all things and is superior to anything that came after Him.
    • His worth
    • That it is right to honor him
    • His right to have pleasure.  And we must obligate ourselves to bring Him pleasure.

1Ki 18:36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.

  • Elijah submitted himself as a servant, not to overrule God, but to carry out His will.  What an honor!
  • Elijah could have been consumed with self-vindication, but he did what he did because God instructed him to.
  • Somehow we must know how to come boldly and humbly-at the same time.  The word of God calls for both.
  • The prophet knew who God was and took the time to recognize Him by name.  Don’t be in a hurry.  Take the time to call out the name of the Lord when you pray.
  • His reasoning for doing exploits and calling for phenomenal things from God was for people to know the same things about God that he knew..
  • He was set for the defense of God.  His attitude was, “God, you must look good on the earth.”  He prayed with the reputation of God in mind first.
  • Where is your concern for God’s dignity on the earth?  You do have it, don’t you?

Lu 7: 2 And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.

3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.

4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:

5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.

6 Then Jesus went with them.

  • Will Jesus go with you?  (vs. 6)
  • The centurion ALREADY gave and did justice to the Jews.
  • It provided the basis for intercession.  It should be noted that intercession is not long, hard praying.  An intercessor is a person who has influence with God and has the character to back their demands.
  • These Jews were able to go to Jesus on the behalf of the centurion and present a spiritual argument to Jesus that moved him.
  • Do you really have a case?  Or do you only have desires?  Why do you want what you ask God for?  And why should God give you what you ask for?  What glory will He get when your request is honored?  Just a testimony?  Come on……..please!  Even if you don’t praise Him, the rock can.

Whew! You wanting to preach ain’t cha? LOL.

Anyway what is there that we have to ask God for? I know we do it, but hasn’t it all already been done? Prayer is more for our benefit that His. If He knows how to clothe the birds He has taken care of all of our needs. I believe that The Holy Ghost does the cummunicating anway as we don’t know what to ask for and that we are blocked from God by the sin. That’s why we have to go thru Christ. He is the only speaking for us…

Skip Hop Studio Diaper Tote Bag is awesome. So numerous wallets – as well as not really those little, useless pockets, either. All of the actual pockets tend to be a excellent size and actually aid maintain every thing organized. The handles are a fantastic length and fit nicely over the actual shoulder; the tackle straps also remain put on my shoulder, which is actually critical when you are having a newborn. The tote looks fantastic, too. Not as well fancy, but not as well casual. (I have it in black) The material is soft (can’t feel of a greater word) so it’s simple to squeeze in to tight spaces – but yet it is sturdy. I have a Fleurville Lexi tote and I really like it, too, but that handbag is type of inflexible. I consider this Skip*Hop can turn into my everyday tote. It’s a little bit significant – so if you are not really in to significant bags this may perhaps be far better as an over-night diaper bag.
