I think polls are more of a political tool than an actual accurate depiction of where American voters stand. You mentioned that the Gallup poll only consisted of 2,472 people which is a very small number. There is so much room to bend the results of a poll, based on location, demographic, presentation, etc... With all of that considered it is very hard for me to take polls seriously.
