Does Obama Need Hillary to Help Him Become President?

Written by:

It’s official – after 16 months of a long, sometimes rough campaign, Barack Obama is the Democratic Presidential Nominee. Hillary has finally conceded defeat, but what’s interesting is that she has not decided if she’s going to close her campaign or just suspend it. If she officially closes her campaign, that’s it, it really is over for her. But if she suspends her campagain, she is allowed to her to keep control of her delegates until the convention occurs in August. This is beneficial to her because the superdelegates can change their minds on who they back as the Democratic presidential nominee up until the convention. To me, this means Hillary may still be fighting, just not publicly. I don’t know. We’ll have to see what she says on Saturday.

Now, let’s just say she closes her campaign. Is she the best person to be Obama’s Vice-President? I mean she does have a huge support base, which would no doubt bring more votes in November to a Obama-Clinton ticket. But if Obama selects Hillary as his running mate, does that mean he inherits Bill Clinton too? And if he does, is that an asset or liability to Obama? Is Hillary good or bad for Obama? What’s your Buzz on this topic?

I think Hillary is the best running mate for Obama. There are people who still have serious doubts about Obama and adding Hillary may cause some of her supporters to support Obama. There are people who doubt Hillary too, but they can’t have everyone on their side.
If not Hillary, who would Obama get? If he got someone we really don’t know they could waste precious time while everyone learns about the potential vice-president.
I say add Hillary and start doing the thing!

I am still undecided on whether Hil-Hil is good for Obama. Maybe, maybe not. I just know, I am T-I-R-E-D of her!

I remember when I was little and we had roaches. My momma did everything in the world to try and get rid of the them, but they just kept on multiplying. Finally we had to burn everything, including the house, and start all over. (I iaccidentally was playing with matches)

Hillary don’t mean Obama no good at all. She’d be undermining and trying to outshine him everytime he turned around. I would be like putting Kobe with Shack..again. Plus Bill Clinton has some serious issues that have been ignored.

In my mind John Edwards would be the better choice. I’ve known some pastors who have remarried younger women and have had a tough time due to the differences in generational ideas.Obama and Hillary aren’t even on the same page and would end up fighting behind scenes.

Also she’d be trying to torpedo him so she could set herself up in 2012. I’d rather be sleeping in the same room with Charles Manson than have her as my vice.

    John Edwards

Come on now. Tell me where in history that two opponents join forces for Presidency and VP. If Hillary ran as VP Obama would have to watch his back constantly b/c as evidenced in her campaign she would use all necessary means to get rid of him to become President. Obama now has to prove that he’s smart enough to be President and this wouldnt be a smart move. I agree with some who see Edwards a better fit. He needs to get a Democrat equivalent to a Chaney and he will be o.k. Let’s face it if he can get a White man who is more experienced as far as military background and knowledge he will have someone on his team who can match well against Mccain.

  7. mimi Says:

Hillary became very desperate and tacky. Her tactics her tacky. I’m sure when she looks back at this she will embarrassed.

  8. Kim Says:

Okay mimi, you make some good points, but why in the world would use Chaney as an example? Excuse my french, but he’s a HOT MESS!! That man has no scruples, morals, etc. Do you really want Obama associated with or tied to someone like that? Let’s think about this, Chaney shot a friend while they were out, what was it, duck hunting? What makes you think he won’t shoot Obama in the back and say it was an accident? Think about it long and hard, now.

  9. mimi Says:

I dont agree that Hillary is the best running mate. Hillary doesnt offer anything more as far as experience that Obama couldnt find in another Democrat. I hear that Warner in Virginia would be a good match. Unfortunately its sad that people would consider changing parties. I think at first that may be the first inclination but after a few months people will understand that a Democrat is a Democrat at heart and we cant continue with this downward spiral that the Republicans have put us through the last 8 years.

Once these guys get to debating the real issues it will be clear that Mccain is very experienced in oppressing the minority and low socioeconimic classess and is only interested in making the rich men richer.

I like what ya’ll is sayin…. Ain’t no male, female, jew or gentile in Christ. Problem is these folks is in the owrld and they are dangeroussss. Bill Clinton/John Dillenger. Hillary?/Bonnie. Bill/ Clyde..

    No way Hosea.

  11. mimi Says:

    Kim,
Let me clarify. I used the Chaney example to illustrate how Bush has a Vice President who has basically been running things. By no means am I encouraging Obama to find someone with Chaney’s flaws. I just think that there are many democrats in public office who can serve to be as influential and powerful as Chaney has been during Bush’s presidency. There are a number of democrats who have more years of experience than Hillary and more foreign policy experience that can be a strong support and VP for Obama.

  12. Mslicia1210 Says:

While Hillary may appear to be the best running mate for Obama, I mean she has the support of the voters who are not behind Barack and may jump ship to the Republicans. Her name on the ticket would bring those voters back to the Dems.

I have to say I would be afraid of this hook up. Hillary hasn’t been willing to concede in this race, and she’s still on shakey ground about doing so this weekend. She wants the White House BAD, but at what cost? VP would be her in and maybe put her in a better position to take it….”by any means necessary”.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Hillary, but she’s just a little too hungry. I’m with Johnthebaptist7, John Edwards.

  13. Tom Sawyer Says:

In my opinion, this is exactly what it boils down to. Hillary is probably the best running mate, but would be the worst vice-president. Does that make sense? She is the best person to help Obama get to the white house and the worst person to be there with him.

  14. Kathy Curry Says:

John you are a funny guy.

You guys remember the email that floats around occasionally naming all the people that end up dead that are associated with presidents/politicians? Sure you do. We’ve all gotten them. Well if my memory serves me, there were quite a few (deaths) linked to Hil and Bill. Now, I haven’t research it all and can’t say how true it all was, but it was chilling. And it sounded legit. So I’m now thinking, letting Obama take her with him would be like sending a child to MJ’s Neverland with your eyes wide open! We can’t let Barack take Hil-Hil with him! The clock would be ticking. Somebody call him!

I think that Barak should make Hillary VP. I don’t think that she would undermine him. She basically has VP experience anyways. While Al Gore was hugging trees she was helping Bill make decisions.

  18. Kathy Curry Says:

    Barry, Al Gore…trees. lol.

  19. JOHNTHEBAPTIST7 Says:

Barry, I keep on trying to tell you, Bill and her hate each other. They are only married for political reasons.

Fox News refers to Michelle Obama as `baby mama’
    By DAVID BAUDER
    AP Television Writer

NEW YORK — Fox News Channel referred to Michelle Obama as “Obama’s baby mama” in a graphic on Wednesday, the latest in a trio of references to the Democratic presidential campaign that have given fuel to network critics.

The graphic “Outraged liberals: Stop picking on Obama’s baby mama” was flashed during an interview with conservative columnist Michelle Malkin about whether Barack Obama’s wife has been the target of unfair criticism.

In the past two weeks, Fox anchor E.D. Hill has apologized for referring to an affectionate onstage fist bump shared by the couple as a “terrorist fist jab,” and Fox contributor Liz Trotta said she was sorry for joking about an Obama assassination.

The incidents are further indications of how closely the endless cable campaign chatter is being watched this year. Hillary Clinton’s campaign was angered by what it described as the pro-Obama tilt of some MSNBC commentators. Amid protests, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews said he was wrong this winter to say Clinton was a candidate because “her husband messed around.” And MSNBC reporter David Shuster was suspended for two weeks for saying Clinton’s campaign had “pimped out” daughter Chelsea by having her make political phone calls.

“Obama’s baby mama” was never said on the air. Malkin said during her interview that she had seen no gratuitous or cheap shots taken against Michelle Obama by Republican or conservative critics.

Joan Walsh, a columnist from Salon.com, criticized the graphic on Thursday as a slur.

“Do you try to explain that `baby mama’ is slang for the unmarried mother of a man’s child, and not his wife, or even a girlfriend?” Walsh wrote. “Are they racist, or just clueless? Isn’t there racism even in their cluelessness, if somebody didn’t know what `baby mama’ means, but used it anyway? Even at Fox, won’t somebody have to apologize?”

“Baby Mama” also was the title of a recent movie about a woman who hired a surrogate to bear a child. It starred Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, both of whom are white.

Bill Shine, senior vice president of programming at Fox, said in a statement that a producer “exercised poor judgment” during the segment. The producer was not fired; no other disciplinary action was announced.

Hill’s “terrorist fist jab” comment came in a tease to a segment on the candidates’ body language, and it wasn’t repeated during the subsequent interview. She told Fox it was taken from something she had read online.

No matter: “terrorist fist jab” quickly became an online sensation.

Hill apologized on-air four days after she said it. Hill said some people “thought I had personally characterized it inappropriately. I regret that. It was not my intention and I certainly did not mean to associate the word `terrorist’ in any way with Sen. Obama and his wife.”

Fox subsequently canceled Hill’s weekday afternoon program as part of a larger reorganization. She remains on staff.

Trotta’s assassination joke came May 25 as she commented about how some considered it distasteful for Clinton to refer to Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination when explaining why she was staying in the presidential race.

“Now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama,” she said, quickly correcting herself. “Obama. Well, both if we could.”

Obama’s name has often been confused with terrorist leader Osama bin Laden’s, by people ranging from Mitt Romney to CNN’s Alina Cho. And MSNBC once flashed a picture of bin Laden as Chris Matthews talked about Obama.

Trotta apologized on-air the next day, and hasn’t appeared on Fox since.

“I sincerely regret it and apologize to anybody I’ve offended,” she said. “It’s a very colorful political season and many of us are making mistakes and saying things that we wish we hadn’t said.”

  21. Kim Says:

John, I had not seen this particular article, but I’m not surprised. I did, however, hear about the FOX News Channel referring to Obama and Michelle’s ‘DAP’ as a terrorist fist jab. If you keep things into perspective, this is not surprising coming from the FOX News Channel. They are 100% in favor of Republicans so whatever demeaning or disrespectful comments they can say about Democrats, they will do it (and offer a lame apology later).
