Does God Have A Sense of Humor?

Written by:

I love to laugh.  Nothing feels better than a deep, guttural laugh!  You know the kind where your belly hurts afterward.  The kind when later you think about what made you laugh the first time and you start laughing all over again.  I feel certain God wants me happy and joyful and laughing.  But let me ask you this, as Christians should we laugh at stuff jam-packed with profanity?  Do you feel guilty when you laugh at something on TV, or on the radio that is based around sexual innuendos and profanity?  What about at work when a co-worker is just talking using profanity or telling a joke using profanity.  If we laugh at them, do they think we are ok with their language?  Does it dilute our Christianity in their eyes?

I was online and came across a gospel comedian, Michael Jr.  I know literally nothing about him except the snippets I have watched online of his work.  But it is clean!  I long for that!  I love me some Madea, but even Madea’s language is foul at times.  I know the storylines are deep and meant to convey a message but, almost everything we watch today has some cussing/cursing in it and I not immune to those words enough to say, that they don’t still slap me upside the head when I hear them.  But I like Michael Jr!  As I said, I know nothing about him, but I like the tag line I see associated with him:  Catch Them With The Comedy, Keep them With The Truth.  I like that!  Here is a quote from Michael, “If I’m in a club, my material has to be clean enough to work in a church.  If I’m in a pulpit, it has to be funny enough to work in a club.”

Let’s be honest.  One of the funniest places we could ever go is church.  There is enough humor in church to keep us laughing for a long time.  For instance, some of those church hats… They should be banned, don’t you think?  I could do a short stand up routine on just the church hats.  And those sistas – especially First Ladies – think they are the bomb-diggidy in those catastrophes!  My my!  Why?  And what’s with the style where you can’t even see their face?  W-H-O told them those hats are appropriate for church?  But I must admit, seeing only from the nose down on some of them isn’t too bad!  Let me stop!

Anyway, holla back to me about Christian comedy and tell me if you have seen Michael Jr. or Sister Grasshopper or anybody that makes you laugh, without insulting your holyghost!   Let’s talk about Christian comedy.  Tell me something funny!

I’m going to say this right off the top, why do Gospel comedians have to have names like Sister Grasshopper? A corny name does make a funny comedian and I think she would be just as good if she used the name her momma gave her. Unless her momma named here grasshopper – something possible – that is the first turn off for me.

Thats true. ANything some one is selling has to have an attractive look and or name. I kind of dig clean humor, and I think people are some what more talented when they can do it. Many comedians use cuss words as a crutch and something to rely on. But a person who can be clean and funny can reach all crowds, and thats talent.

Cross dressing comics who claim to be Christian. Comics who host Christian awards programs one night and the hit Vegas cussing the next. Specifically Tyler Perry and Steve Harvey. Neither qualify as Christians in my book. But they sure are ok with some of us.
Comedy is the same thing that the court jesters were to Ceasar. Worldly entertainment. When Jesus was on trial some of the clowns were there to mock him and jester. The bible only tells part. They did parodys of His miracles and life.

Don’t get me wrong I enjoy comedy and can be a real comedian myself..as some of you can tell, but I’m confused as to what a Christian comic is. The same standards of salvation still apply. I don’t waste my money attending any of these travelling menstraul shows and I only watch them on TV if they are clean.
Martin Lawrence is NUTS! But I can only watch him in certain shows.

In today’s time I think our conscious has become desensitized to offensive language and images because there is just so much of it everywhere. I’m on my 3rd day of fasting this week in order to try and help me get over something that I can’t shake.

Hey Tom can I do something on fasting? Or you do it.

Android as the System is great.. its generally people who are producing Apps for it are not managing their task correct. They are lackadaisical to optimise performance and economise battery life by auto killing any processing of the app if its not in foreground and just push a task to cpu if its required. if the app is in background and not running the total app for a minute matter and hold it running after its through with the task.

Exercise believe fully the opposite of that.
