Calling All Christians! WWJD, 7 Day Challenge!
Written by: Kathy Curry
The phrase “What would Jesus do?” (often abbreviated to WWJD) became popular in the United States in the 1890s, and again in 1990s, as a personal motto for thousands of Christians who used the phrase as a reminder of their belief that Jesus is the example to be followed in daily life, and to act in a manner of which Jesus would approve.
Is that true for you and me? You do claim to be a Christian don’t you? You do want Christ to be pleased with your actions, reactions, deeds, etc. don’t you? Let’s see if we can’t make Him just as proud of us, as we are of Him!
Let’s take one week and change our thinking. Let’s take one week and try as Christians to get in the mind of Christ. We have read the scriptures and heard the sermons; we know the difference between our actions and those of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Aren’t we as “Christ”ians supposedly striving to be Christ-like? Aren’t we taking the Christ in Christianity and trying to identify with it and be like Him? Well let’s do it together and then let’s talk about the change it made in our lives spiritually and naturally. Stopping and asking What Would Jesus Do before everything we do, will certainly have an impact on EVERYTHING concerning our lives. If we can promote Pay It Forward challenges, and weight lost challenges, and all kinds of reality challenges, let’s doubly promote this challenge! It is the: 7daybuzz.com WWJD 7 Day Challenge!
Tell everybody you know what you are doing and invite them to join in the 7daybuzz.com WWJD challenge! This challenge won’t cost you. This challenge won’t hurt you. (well maybe your pride if you have to turn the other cheek or something flesh defying) I can truthfully say, if done properly, the only thing this challenge can do and will do is make you more conscious of who you are and Whose you are. This might be just the thing you need and I need to expose us to us! We really don’t know who we are. Fact: we never see ourselves the same way others see us! Maybe living this lifestyle for a week (hopefully it will be one we will choose to adopt forever) will close the gap between who we think we are, and who we really are. So starting today, let’s do this!
Hopefully you have prayed for the last week and have programmed your mind to begin questioning yourself and asking, What Would Jesus Do? Now let’s put it into action.
Next Sunday I anxiously look forward to hearing the stories and life changing experiences the WWJD challenge brought about. I think we will surprise ourselves, each and every one of us, when we realize how far we were from true Christ like actions and our own fleshly actions. Don’t make this a burden but make it a joyful occasion for a renewal within your spirit. There will be times when you/I fail. WE will think about WWJD and then do the opposite because our flesh is geared toward self satisfaction. Okay. Get up. Brush off, but don’t stop! Get back on the horse and continue with the challenge. If at first you don’t succeed, keep trying! That’s what Jesus would do, right?
Just remember, before you do it, ask yourself WWJD? Before you say it, ask yourself WWJD? Before you think it, ask yourself WWJD? We’ll talk soon!

Kathy, I’m in, but I will probably have to come back before next week to update my progress.
July 27th, 2008 at 11:24 am
Yeah Kathy What would he do? Problem is none of us really know. It’s all by faith and faith is clearly something that a human can’t figure…
This outta be good. Imma sit back and see what all the prognostigators have to say on this one……..
July 27th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
What about this scripture???? We can’t think or imagine what Christ would do with any kind of certainty because we aren’t able to conceive to a WWJD level.
Ro 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
More evidence that we are not able to figure out WWJD
July 27th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Good Tom! That is what we want. Let us know how you are doing, as you go! Glad you are in!
July 27th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
I hear what you are saying but aren’t we striving to be like Christ?
None of us know what each other would think or do, but we give gifts with an individual in mind anticipating their reaction by what we know about them. I think as we get seasoned in God, and get to know Him, we should know, from His word, what would please Him, Therefore we strive to be like Him, act like Him, and react like Him. If we aren’t living for Him in this manner while following Him, we might as well hang it up. Of course we know He is omnipotent and sovereign. We can only live a life with actions that we pray will please Him.
Get rooted deeper in Him my friend. Then maybe you won’t be the devil’s advocate on this one, but actually strive as any of us participating in the challenge, to be more like Him and please Him.
July 27th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
I’ve got to agree with Mike on this one.
Looking at those verses he posted how could you say he was being the Devil’s advocate?
It’s not us doing the thinking sis. That’s the problem with the WWJD do “theology.” The bible tells us to be “lead by the spirit..” You sound like you might be somewhat intelligent…at times… so let me ask you this….????
What kind of imput is need from a person if they are being lead?? Unless i’m totally ignorant the answer is “none.” Right?????
So let take this to it’s logical conclusion…….
When moses had the encounter with the rock….and we know that that rock was Christ…how much input was required from Moses? Moses didn’t try and figure out what the Rock would do did he????
Slow down and think about what I’ve said nefore you try and fiigure out your answer based your preconceived idiology.
The WWJD philosophy is based upon some unspiritual person’s intellectual conclusion (the real devil in this mess)
The bible says: ” Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13)” Do you not understand that that is the answer to the WWJD question???
Our thought process is excluded fron the process sis….Totally excluded. So to be technically correct from an apostolic perspective this is a question that no spiritual person even need address. Jesus has already done everything for the believer when he completed the salvation process.
WWJD must first be looked at in grammically correct structure. It is a question. So the correct presentation of this must always be as follows..WWJD?
Now we have something that we can scripturally examine..
The question…What would Jesus do?
The answer…No one , and i mean no one, knows………..
We don’t lead the spirit (Christ) he leads us…so if you go back to this: ” Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13)”
In my conclusion: This is why the church must stop following the doctrines of devils and devil’s advocates. Just because it sounds catchy (I almost said Kathy…lol) doesn’t mean it’s biblically correct.
Tell you what I’ve scriptually proved my point, why don’t you scriptually prove yours???
Why not call on summa your kinfolk to help you..and don’t forget to ask Petey Wheatstraw.
July 27th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
That your pic??? Nice eyes and teeth..dimples too…..(Not trying to flirt cause I already got a man)
July 27th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Thank you for proving what this challenge is about: being lead… but listen, you live in America! The one thing you know for sure is, you can do whatever you want! And what you seem to want is to not participate in this challenge. No problem. This is for those of us who take WWJD in the spirit it is meant to be. It definitely is not for everyone!
July 28th, 2008 at 5:12 am
Why is it so hard for women to just admit that a man is right? HUH? (rolling my eyes)
July 28th, 2008 at 5:16 am
Oh so now you got a “MIND READING LICENSCE?” Take it out so I can see it Kathy……
Wait! Let me scoot a little closer to the monitor……….
July 28th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Last week I agreed this was a good challenge to participate in. I’m still in agreement.
July 28th, 2008 at 11:17 am
I think the concept is wonderful, to stop before we react or speak a word that we truly say to ourselves what would Christ do. The scripture was so excellently quoted to help us to draw our mind back to Christ Jesus, Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. When the Spirit of Christ has come in He will lead you and guide you into all truth, and one of those truths is that in the Book of James 1:19, Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Sometimes, we do not let the Spirit of truth lead us and guide us. We walk in our fleshly spirit, doing and acting out of our fleshly spirit, What Would Jesus Do… is good to draw our minds back that we are to be a light unto the world. not walk in the flesh, that we fulfil lust of the flesh, but that we walk in the spirit of righteousness, not our righteousness which of fithly rags, but the righteousness of the Spirit of Truth(Jesus)
July 28th, 2008 at 11:34 am
Wow…Shirley you have been doing some studying…..Nice stuff.
John the baptist I get your drift man and I think you have the same idea on this as me.I think Shirely and Kathy are trying to motivate people to think about living saved which is a good thing. Too bad we gotta use gimmics when all people need to do is read, fast and pray. The scripture in James is exactly right. Maybe James should have told us to “think” about WWJD?
July 28th, 2008 at 11:41 am
HUH???!!!!
July 28th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Mike, I do not believe in gimmicks, but think about how many times we have reacted to a situation inappropriately and then say to ourselves Lord forgive me, I know that was not you speaking. Why, because we did not allow ourselves to be lead by the Spirit of Truth. I agree if we would do as the scripture has said, If My people which are called by My name, shall humble themselves pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin, and heal their land. We are like children and things have to be rehearsed in our minds, even Jesus when He taught the disciples, down through the scripture He would repeat The Word to them again somewhere else in scripture, for them to get it down in the inward part. We are in a time in Christendom, were you never take down or compromise, but some Saints have become weak in faith, and they are allowing the cares of this life to dictate their actions and reactions; they are not all walking by faith, they are not all praying, and fasting. But if their minds could be drawn back to Who they belong too; Why are they saved; Why are they suffering things that they are. Everytime something occurs and they can think about t Jesus WHAT WOULD JESUS DO, and how when He was reviled, He did not revile back again. The suffering that He went through. And He said if you suffer with Me, you shall also reign with Me. Yes, I want as many people saved as Jesus has called.
July 28th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
Shirley, I enjoyed reading your comments. Happy to have you join us!
Mike/John: because I am still a fleshy vessel, I admit, there are times when I will have to be brought back to reality, even about some of my actions being saved. Bless you if you stay in the right frame of mind even with studying, fasting, and prayer. I don’t. With my flesh, there are times when my spirit would probably be approved of by God and then something carnal comes along and throws me. Hopefully, those times are becoming fewer and fewer. But I still need EVERYTHING I can to walk in the manner acceptable to Christ. For me it is a “whatever it takes” kind of thing! As the old timers would say, I mean to make heaven! Let me walk around for a week asking myself, What Would Jesus Do in the situations I’m facing.. I understand, I won’t know for sure what He would do, but after being rooted in Christ and the teachings of Christ all of these years, hopefully, this week (:o) I can come close to pleasing Him with my actions.
I say again, if this challenge isn’t for you, I understand. You seem to be at a different place.
July 28th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
You got it made. You should trying being a man. We are born predatory. You should try having to walk past a pork chop and not at least lick your lips…
You think you know what hard is? HA! You all sugar and spice and everything nice. Your daddy and momma prolly taugh you not to do bad things with those little nasty boys. My daddy was tellin me to “be a man.”
I told you before about how hard I’ve had it. The challenge for me isn’t WWJD?, cause I have no idea. I need Jesus to just do it and then I’ll live with the results. I’m soory sis but I’m just not smart enuff to figure out WWJD. God bless you if you can cause you gotta be the smartest woman walking on knuckles……..
July 28th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Let me reiterate:
I won’t know for sure what He would do, but after being rooted in Christ and the teachings of Christ all of these years, hopefully, this week (:o) I can come close to pleasing Him with my actions.
Mike, you seem to be getting worked up! Back away from the challenge…
July 28th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Shirley Shirley bo ferly banana fanna mo merly fee fi mo merly SHIRLEY!!!
The problem is that everyone is implying that salvation requires some kind of human imput and it doesn”t.
July 28th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
And if I don’t……????
………and if I was worked up you’d know it. >
I’d bite your ear
July 28th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Take a chill pill Mike………..
July 28th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
Kathy I’m sure your flesh could get you into a lot of trouble…..Anybody that cute must have had trouble…Shoot even Tom kinda cute himself….Your family musta got the cute gene…..rofl…..
July 28th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
lol.
Mike, I’m gonna do what I think Jesus would be proud of, I’m gonna thank you for your input, let you know we always welcome opposing viewpoints, even yours, and say let’s you and I talk again soon!
July 28th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
To one of the comments that was made. Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments. We are still in the flesh. But Jesus let us to know because He is perfect, that ” we are to be ye perfect”, because we have the perfect one abiding down in our soul. We have the Holy Ghost which is the fulness of the Godhead bodily dwelling with in us, and through Jesus I can overcome myself. Yes, it is a constant working on self, not anyone else, but self, that we may be found worthy in the eyes of God. For He said, be ye holy for Iam Holy. Jesus also said “work out your salvation with fear and trembling”. That is the reason fasting, praying and reading the Word of God is so important. The Word Of God it cleanse us. when we allow it to work in our lives.
July 28th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Shirley you married? Cause if you are I’d like to talk to your husband. Maybe ask him how obedient you are to him….Maybe this week you should try this WWJD stuff with him….Now that would be something to see……….
July 28th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
So you gonna do what you’re told this week huh? Somebody outta be really happy….
July 28th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
We’ll see Kim. I got my eye on you….
July 30th, 2008 at 9:03 am
John I have a slight problem with the word obedient unto my husband. Submissive to him would sound more appropriate. Since the Word of God tells the wife to be submitted unto her husband, but then the scripture goes a little farther, husband do likewise. I agree with you I should do–What Would Jesus Do, and so far by God Grace it has helped a lot. It makes me think rather than reacting. Have You try it. You just might be surprise, the spiritual blessing that you will receive from the Lord. But I must confess I am doing all the other things to go along with that fasting, praying and reading the Word.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Kathy,
One of the first things I did at a new church was have everyone read the book “In His Steps” where the phrase WWJD came from. It was always a life changing for many! So I’m in now thanks to your 6 am email this morning!! (I”m in Mountain Time Zone now!!! LOL!)
July 30th, 2008 at 11:07 am
Hi Trish! Welcome to 7daybuzz! Sorry about the early text but I’m so happy to see you here! Talk with us often! Miss you!
July 30th, 2008 at 11:22 am
There is no such thing as a “slight problem.” i.e.
“Shirley, hiyadoing?”
“Oh just fine John I got a slight cancer in my colon.”
C’mon admit it. You’re just like Kim, Kathy, Angie and all these other saved sistas round heah.
You trying to play words games. Obedient v/s submissive like there is some kinda difference in the word. If you was married to me I’d have you under control.
“SAY MY NAME!
John”
….LOUDER!
JOHN!
WHO’SE YOU DADDY?
“You are John.”
That’s what I’m talkin bout….now get your self back in the bedroom where you belong.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:27 am

July 30th, 2008 at 11:32 am
as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror. (1 Peter 3:6
WWJD? Well there is your answer……
July 30th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
Very good, Yes Sarah did, But you know there is a scripture in the Bible which states. For No Man to Be lord of God’s heritage. But I have no problem with respecting my husband, I in need to inform you I am not married. But I have been, and I had no problem respecting my husband, nor did my husband have any problem respecting me. The scripture also says, Follow peace with all men, which without holiness, no man shall see God. Being submissive has no gender attached to it. It you have the Holy Ghost, you will find yourself being submissive to whoever has authority over you.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
You almost got me believing you. You talk so nice and sweet but…………….I AIN’T FALLING FOR IT SHIRLEY!! It’s a trick. This is WWDJ week
Next week you’ll go get the old broom outta the closet and every man will be back on the endangered species list.
I kow your type you Robin Givens clone. You’d marry me and then eat me alive. Move yo momma in a week after the honeymoon. She’d eat up all my food in the fridge and be smoking my cigars.
Nice try Shirley but I’m keepin you on a leash…a short one.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
I am sorry, but I am saved. I do not disrespect leadership or authority on any level. If the Lord allows a child do be head of a program that child is do my respect, or just a child period is due my respect. I have no respect of person. Everyone whether I agree with them or not are do respect, and by God’s Grace and Mercy, I am going to respect people. So I am sorry but you have the wrong person, and your presumption of me is incorrect. The Bible says, give honor unto whom honor is due.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
Uh boy…I can see I got my hands full here………..
Sis has anyone ‘splained to you how black wummen in tha church ‘spose to act?
Don’t be just given in when I say sumthin. You ‘pose to fuss back…..not acting like you saved or sumthin..
July 30th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
I signed up to talk about WWJD. I don’t see the point of the conversation thaht is going on. What would Jesus do concerning this conversation — redirect you to himself! Let’s focus on Jesus, the author and perfecter of ourselves!
July 30th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
No one’s stopping you from talking about whatever it is you want to tlak about Trish….
Do you think Jesus would butt in grown folks business?
I suggest you say something interesting and maybe someone will respond….
July 30th, 2008 at 2:12 pm

TRISH 3:16
July 31st, 2008 at 7:32 am
Trish, I am happy to have you here with us. Our blog is open to all who wish to talk. As you see, different personalities express themselves differently. I hope that doesn’t distract you or run you away from our challenge or expressing your viewpoints on other topics. As much as you and I have talked over the years, we can continue talking on here! You bring a fresh and unique voice and we want to hear it!
July 31st, 2008 at 9:34 am

July 31st, 2008 at 9:43 am
Hello Trish! Nice to meet you have a Blessed Day
July 31st, 2008 at 10:25 am
Good morning, everyone!
I have to admit when I went to bed last night I was not going to continue with this blog because I was yelled at! But you know, that’s life and the blogs this morning are so welcoming — thanks!
I am trying to ask WWJD in my situation. Am It is stretching me to love my enemies and to be patient with others.
Last fall I was fired from a Christian organization, not because I didn’t do my work, but because “I didn’t fit in.” I’ve found this is the new phrase used for age discrimination (I’m 60) but decided not to go the legal route.
Since my husband Dan and I have moved to the Denver, CO metro area in order to be closer to my family including my 2 sons. That part has been a blessing.
We’ve been here about a month and I am now looking for a job — I’ve been a pastor and editor among Friends (Quakers) since the mid 70s and there is only 1 church in Denver and they don’t need me. So I’m looking to new horizons and am on a new path that God has created. It’s hard to sit in Panera Bread with their wifi and send out so many resumes and hear nothing back expcept we have received your resume. I’m dealing with anger, disappointment and betrayal — all emotions Jesus experienced so I know He understands.
May God bless you on your fast today John.
July 31st, 2008 at 10:45 am
Trish reread the blog. In responding Inever yelled at you……. Yelling is in CAPITAL. letters. I post the “YELLING” in a seperate post as an announcement. I just asked you if you tought you were butting into a conversation between person “A” and “B>”Me thinks your other issues are likely the culprit. I have someone due to see me soon but when I come back we’ll talk about some of the current problems you experencing…..
July 31st, 2008 at 10:51 am
Sometime being a “Living Epistle” is not easy. A lot of times when we read about some of the bibical characters it’s easy to say what they should or should not have done. In their time they were, and still are, “living epistles.’
When we go thru trials we are the continuation of the bible. How do you want your chapter to be read? It would be easy for me to tell you hoe to deal with your problems Trish, but the bible has already given you the answer. Even Jesus was the that point. ….”let this cup pass.” But he said, >>>”not my will……..”
You are in one of those moments where the chickens have come home. You’ve preacherd the word now God is making you live one of your sermons. Been there……
July 31st, 2008 at 11:01 am
John
I took the postings as yelling and making fun of me with Trish 3:16. I think I am not sophisticated enough to participate in this blog. and maybe blogging isn’t my thing. I thought we would be discussing WWJD — I am sorry if I butted in where I should not have.
July 31st, 2008 at 11:09 am
Hi Trish. What you blogged was perfect! Your opinion is a welcome addition to this site. Just for clarification, sometimes when words are in CAPS, it’s just to make a point. If the post was in all CAPS, that would be considered yelling. Blogging is about voicing one’s opinion. Sometimes one person’s opinion can be stronger than others, but that’s not to say that their opinion supersedes yours. Continue posting on this site. We are definitely discussing WWJD.
July 31st, 2008 at 11:20 am
John, I’ve not interceded on any of your comments before because I believe that everyone has the right to voice their opinion. BUT, let me say this: on this site, A and B conversations don’t exist. Everyone who comes to this site is welcome to join any conversation.
July 31st, 2008 at 11:37 am
Trish, as Kim just said, nobody’s opinion means any more than the next person’s! Blogs are simply a community where people converse and communicate. If you go back to some of our older articles, you’ll see that some of our most consistent bloggers are not a respecter of person. I’ve had, not so not nice, comments made to me. Things I could have taken personally and felt made fun of, but it’s ok, I’ve also been validated and lifted up! Please keep talking!
July 31st, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Don’t be overaly sensitive about things and you’ll be just fine. This is just like life. You can only run and hide so long. Afterwhile whatever you fear will find you.
July 31st, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Now you making me feel worthless Kathy and I’m sooo offended. I can’t believe that you’d say that my opinion doesn’t mean more than anyoneelses. Don’t you know how important I am? I am somebody cause Jesus himself said so. Do you Think jesus wudda said something like that to me? I think not!
He said I’m royal and you tryin to tell me that I just common? How mean and insensitive of you. I can’t take this. Boo Hoo I’m packing up my toys and I’m going to sit here and pout about everything………………….
August 1st, 2008 at 6:46 am
You offended??? Get out!!!

HEY SHIRLEY WHERE DID YA GO??? I WAS HAVING FUN WID YA………??????
August 1st, 2008 at 10:17 am
Turning one’s cheek has got to be the hardest lesson to learn from Jesus. WWJD has had me thinking about how hard it is when people betray you. And then this week my book about my experiences in Ramallah, Palestine came out and I received my copy. The editor selected also became a contributor and just placed information, thoughts and comments throughout the manuscript. Of course, no final manuscript was sent to me to see so my first look was at the finished product. Words that could be seen as inflametory by some people in the Midddle East were used as well as hearsay and “local legends.” As a journalist I try to remain unbiased and use facts. So although I knew changes had been made, it was a surprise to see it in print.
But the main message remained–as my sons pointed out–and that was that the Ramallah Friends Schools have had a huge impact on the region for over 140 years. And that’s pretty amazing.
So I’m trying to turn my other cheek, forgive those who tresspass against us so that I can learn from Jesus and stand with Him. Then I know He will forgive me as I have forgiven others.
WWJD??? When the rubber meets the road, it is hard. But it is the only way to go.
What challenges have you faced this week. And how has asking WWJD helped or hindered?
August 1st, 2008 at 10:42 am
One of my challenges started last week as I asked a, sort of, co-workers how to get to an office. The reason I say sort of is because she works downstairs and I work upstairs. Rarely do we see each other and I didn’t even know her name at the time. I asked where a certain office was. Where she sent me was wrong and as I turned and came back I caught her telling another woman about it and they were laughing at me about the situation! I don’t know what all she said, but I clearly heard her telling her the exact same words whe had just told me so Iknew they were talking about me! I was crushed. My real co-worker upstairs told her to apologize and she did. I accepted it. At that point I would have been justified in not putting myself in her path again, or just having nothing to do with her but the next time I saw her I bent over backwards to speak. And then we were in the print shop together. Just the two of us talked for about 15 mins! It was a great conversation about life. The next day she called me and thanked me for the conversation. We talked another 15 mins. I now consider us friends. The entire time this was happening this week, I realize I would have been justified in just leaving her alone, speaking when I passed her in the hall, and leaving it at that. BUT…. I asked myself WWJD!!! Even when we don’t speak to Him, he continues speaking to us and blessing us! I now have an easier working environment when I go downstairs and I have a friend! I feel so much better about the situation! If we let Him, he will lead us!

A guy got fired here today and it was all I could to keep from dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance dancing all night.
He has done nothing but aggrevate the 3 months he was here. I’ve know since last week that he was a gonner and I’ve been happy about it knowing that he was in my words, “A dead man walking.” He has lied on me, but gotten caught. Hated me because I’m the semi HNIC.
Ya’ll can talk about me all you want but I know that any one of you would have been just as happy as I am if ya’ll had been in my shoes. Israel celebrated the defeat of their enemies did they not???

Turning a cheek is hard due to one’s ID>ego. Pride baby! That’s why it’s one of the “7 deadly sins.”
Believe it or not pride in Christians is even more evident and damaging. It totallly runs away the unsaved because they see the same things that they do in the unsaved. However most christians will deny being guilty of this sin.

That John is something else, to say the least. I will not say too much on him, for fear of being his next VICTIM.
I experienced a situation at work last week which made me think, WWJD. First, a little about me, I consider myself to be a peacemaker; I like to keep the peace between my friends, family, and co-workers. But, when people annoyed me, well, sometime, well most of the time, it’s hard for me to turn the other cheek.
There was a woman working with our team for a few weeks at work that I grew a strong irritation for. At first, I tried to give her the benefit if doubt. God’s knows I did! I would even defend her when other co-workers were ready to chop off her head.
It came time for her to leave and she invited the whole team to lunch (at her expense, of course). I decided that I would not go; free lunch or no free lunch, there was no way I was going to brake bread with that mean-spirited woman. I have better things to do with my lunch break, like sit in my hot car and read a book! Well, I started thinking, WWJD. To make a long story short, I attended the luncheon.
My co-workers were saying nice things about the woman, “what a great job she had done, and so on and so forth”. It was making me sick to hear anyone say anything nice about that Hell-Cat of a woman! I just could not see any redeeming qualities in her, not one.
I started thinking; my co-workers were not the ones with the problem. I was the one with the problem. What they were doing was attributing attributes to the woman that they would like to see her display or it could be that they were so happy she was leaving that they would say anything and that free food was good. Nevertheless, their kind works worked, the woman was pleasant for most of the lunch, that’s if you don’t count the fly she killed then placed in an empty dish or the blow she landed on the Graphic Designer’s back, in an attempt to kill another fly!
Bottom line, I learned something about myself that day. It easy to advise someone else to do the right thing, but when it comes to me, well I fall short in that area. I learned that I have to work on me, I got to practice what I preach and turn the other cheek. Learn to forgive and forget and move on. I am going to do some fasting, reading, and praying for self-help.
Thanks Kathy for the challenge, I think you feel me on this one;o)

Kathy and Carol,
You both did so good!! It IS so hard to turn the other cheek!!! I know too. I like the way Carol you said that the nice things about the woman may be ways that people would like her to become. Wouldn’t it be great if we were able to more often see people as God does and encourage them with the attributes that God sees? Unfortunately we usually focus on our hurt or frustration. WWJD. I’m so glad that Kathy posted this reminder. I’m trying to use it again in a more active way.

Thanks for this, it appears to me that brainwave entrainment is a tremendous technology, I’ve been looking into it for a spell now and you’ve prompted me to go and try it.

Just the sort of info I’ve been waiting for! I’m still pretty fresh to the Internet – a late adopter
– but I am finding out about this entire information sharing absorbing. Very contrary to my time when we were bound with the ideas and opinions of our friends. Today we have just about every last view and belief open to us at the touch of a button.
