Beyonce’s Dilemma: Her Fame and Church

Sometime last week, I came across an article on the internet that said Beyonce can’t attend church because her fame won’t allow her to worship publicly. In the article, Beyonce says, “I can’t really go to church anymore, which is a shame. People have come up to me in church during the sermon and, of course, people watch everything I do. They come up and take pictures on their mobile phones too. They are very nice, but I think God understands if I miss Sunday service!” My initial thought after reading this article was: What??!!! This is pure foolishness! But then I thought, well I should give her the benefit of the doubt. I mean everyone should be able to worship in peace, right? You should be able to go to church without worrying about who’s watching you or taking your picture unknowingly, right? Then I thought again: What???!!!! How many celebrities attend church knowing they’ll have fans there? Uhm, let me see if I can name a few: Denzel Washington, President Clinton, Samuel Jackson, Barack Obama, etc.
I think that if you reallly want to go to church and worship, then you’ll go (keeping in mind that you do not have any disabilities that would prevent you from going). On the other hand, if you really don’t want to go, then you’ll make excuses and/or rationalize as to why you can’t or shouldn’t go. I’ll be the first to admit that TV ministers (i.e. Joel Olsteen, TD Jakes, etc.) can give you a Word here and there. But, I don’t agree with not going to Church simply because you’re famous. I know some people are going to say it’s her personal choice — and it is. However, I question her rational for this decision. It would make more sense to me if she said something like ‘my relationship with God is not quite right, right now.’ Something along those lines. What’s your take on Miss Beyonce and her stance on not attending church?

I think that Beyonce is just making an excuse. If she really wants to go to church she cn kinda disgiuse herself and go. The bible speaks of not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together which means: Go to church! They is strength in unity and numbers and there’s just something to be said about how God can deliver a word to the preacher,no matter who it is, that can help you make it through the week with encouragement straight from the Lord. She needs to do better even if she has to find a storefront with 5 people she can go somewhere.

Kim, you make some great points. Let me get this straight, Denzel can go to church, but Beyonce can’t? Get out of here! I just don’t think God would allow someone to get so big that they can’t go worship at church. It just doesn’t make sense to me, but I also don’t think God is going to hold back a blessing if I don’t forward an email to ten people. You can call me crazy like that!

Hmmm…. this is tricky. I am not a star and I don’t have the fame or the money of Beyonce. The only thing I guess I can liken it too is little kids in church who stand on the pews and turn around and bug you all during service. It drives me nuts and let me say, I will strategically sit away from that kid next Sunday!!! Now, in Beyonce’s case, I guess you multiply my experience with brat-zilla by a zillion and that is her life. And then let’s not forget to throw in the whack job or two that comes to church and isn’t there for church, but maybe just to look at her. I’m just saying. It is very, very, very hard to judge a person when you have not walked in their shoes. I know professed Christians who don’t attend church on a regular, or at all, and ain’t nothing wrong with them, and ain’t nobody there to see them. As much money as Beyonce has, she should hire herself a pastor to come and minister to her wherever she chooses, in the privacy of the location of her choice. I’m sure there are many out there for hire.
Amazing though, one would think, if this is her home church and she had been going to this church all along – ie, Denzel Washington (I’m sure), people would be used to her. But I guess, they must not know ’bout her, they must not know ’bout her!

Kathy, I like your post. It kinda flows back to the Judge or Not Judge post. Okay, let’s say we’re not judging Beyonce on her decision. It’s her decision, right? However, isn’t it still an excuse? I mean most people, at one time or another, have rationalize on why they are not going to attend Church, right? Now, based on your comment, “I know professed Christians who don’t attend church” — I have a followup question; Just by attending church, does it make you a Christian? Although I know the answer to this question — it surely doesn’t — humor me here. How many professed Christians DO attend church on Sunday, but everything else goes throughout the rest of the week (i.e. fornicating, cursing, drinking, etc.)? Just something to think about.

Kim, I agree 110%. Being raised going to church, literally every time the doors opened, kind of sticks with you and makes you feel “less than”, if you are not there, every time the church doors are open. Someone bought it to my attention, some time back, only twice in the bible does it say Christ was in “church”. I have not researched that for myself, so maybe I shouldn’t refer to it, but I do KNOW Christianity is so much more than church attendance. Soooo many people satisfy that gnawing feeling by doing their part and attending a Sunday service. They know good and well when they leave they are going straight back to doing their own thing… until next Sunday.
My father always says, you can tell a tree by the fruit it bears. I agree with that, but also think the bottom line is an individual’s relationship with God. Certainly having the appropriate relationship would and should make you want to go to the place, we as humans have deemed His house, but I cannot say, unequivocally that someone who does not attend is not a Christian. Just like I can say, all who do attend ARE NOT Christians! If they are, they are not serving the same sweet Jesus I serve.

Who knows, she and J could be having church at home or in their private area. The bible does say wherever two or three are gathered….. So no, she may not go to a public church or the one she was raised in but she and J and some others might get their praise on privately and God will still show his presence.

So calling her a Illuminatist, Luciferian, False Christ Worshipping, Demonic-Possessed singer is appropriate? Yes she is a sinner, WE ALL ARE…including you. She may not mirror a Christ-like representation to the world (esp with that alter ego, Sasha Fierce stuff). But are you part of her problem or solution? We can AGREE that she’s this or that or she represents this or that. But is it out of LOVE? Is it in an effort to reach out to her and explain that she has a sharp impact on her fans and she could be causing them to stumble. Or are your intentions only to blast her name and blame her for deceiving people. Which I had a church member post a blog that Beyonce decieved her. Which to me doesn’t make sense b/c Beyonce has sang the same stuff since she first came out. You decieve yourself when you listen to artists who glorify things that are not of God. But anyway, if you believe this or that about Beyonce then pray for her and her husband; that her heart changes and God provides her a way to worship somewhere in peace with distraction. God Bless!!!
P.S. If you wanna keep a watchful eye on someone…try yourself first. Pull the plank out of your eye before you try to remove the speck in your brother’s eye.

Thinking like Leeash04 is exactly why people are being deceived. No, it’s not nice or friendly to call her those things but it’s true.
Pick up a Bible and read it! Jesus also said things that weren’t too nice but they were true. He wasn’t afraid to call people out. He called a spade, a spade. A sinner a sinner. A liar a liar. An adulterer and adulterer.
As for the plank quote, Jesus is referring to hypocritical judgement, not judgement in itself. So if that person is doing the same thing that they accuse Beyonce of, then they need to shut up and work on themselves. If not, then speak the truth.
Just because we are all sinners it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t tell the truth. No one will ever know the truth if we all sit and say nothing because we falsely believe it’s wrong to speak up.
“Oh we all sin so I will just sit and pray” Great, while you are praying, who is going to warn the people who have no idea what is going on and how they are being misled? Has it ever occured to you that God put certain people here to speak up ?
“Religious” people like you are the reason why it’s going to be so easy for the devil to implement his plans. Just go ahead and lead people right to 666.
But like Wanda said, if your eyes are closed, you won’t understand it. So how about you sit down and pray for some wisdom from God before making any further comments.

Yes!! Your right there is no excuse for her not to attend church but you have to read into also… even though there shouldnt be an arguement if you truly no whats right. But you have to read in the B.I.B.L.E it says that many will be decieved through someone that everyone likes and someone everyone is almost infatuated with or something like that. I mean Beyonce is honestly not good for you nothing in her songs help you spiritually or mentally…. although you say yea thats right to some of them if you think about it, its just you agreeing to some other understanding of living life. I mean its so catchy and she is such a hit and a success but you realize the smallest overlooked factor and that is WHO IS SHE REALLY WORKING FOR and once you find that out it shouldnt be that confusing. She has changed so much through out her career…. and its very visible and though i suffer because i am such a big fan of hers I cant help myself but question why is it that I feel so wrong about beyonce sometimes… or Why do i feel so wrong about feeling the way i do about beyonce its almost like you can’t escape it because she hasn’t truly said Im going to decieve the world she doesnt know what she is doing either….. and so many people accept it. Its really sad. And her marriage though i dont question anyones love for there mate but i cant help but wonder why if she claims to be a christian… Why?? would she marry someone who often claims to be a god of some sort of god its ok to have a big ego but he does thing that question anyone. Have a look at er eye make up when calling herself Sasha Firece and look at the eye sign she makes when on stage and by husband Jay Z who calls himself jehova? The sign of Horus a pagan god and this Sasha Firce when you look at it is a demon of lust..leading many ignorant to hell that’s all. They have sold themselves to the devil for the money the church thing is a smoke screen. She has been a star since Destiny’s child days what’s changed? People knew her then..this is a spiritual battle and so far the devil has her soul. As for those who listen to her music you are well on the way too.
And marrying a man who sings about lucifer and calls himself jehova and all people notice is that she is not going to church..wow talk about blind with eyes wide open..And those who say love and don’t judge..this is pointing out what is happening..we are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. But demons are demons and there is no nice about it. Did Christ say be nice about it or are you to beware.

This is very interesting. I am a PK and i have heard a lot of excuses as to why ppl don’t go to church. Its funny how we can make it to the mall to shop with a whole lot of people taking pictures asking for autographs yet can’t make it to God’s house to worship? THERE IS NO EXCUSE here. Did she come out with this statement on her own or did someone ask her if she goes to church?

I’m not sure if she was asked or if she made the statement on her own. But I agree with you that it’s sad (funny) that we make all kinds of excuses not to go to church, but as soon as there is a sale on a pair of shoes we want, we’re one of the first ones at the mall.
Yesterday at my church, the message was it’s time for a revival – a personal revival. We gotta get our personal relationship right with Jesus – that should be the most important thing right now!

this latter day ministries is really a huge concern of mine. thier claims are over the top and lack Godly council. the judgement that is places upon beyonce just because she chose a life unacceptable to them is critical. if these were the old days, when churches could do what they pleases i do not want to even imagine what latter day would have done to beyonce. the holier than thou image that is netting radical believers and turning them against a human being without any proof is what Jesus called false prophecy. latter day wont even publish my comments because they know i speak the truth. God is watching them, and by the measure they judge otheres so they shall be judged.
it is unfortunate beyonce chose to share with the world how she wants to live her life. it is none of anybody’s business whether she goes to church or not. however calling her demon possessed is far fetched and God is going to deal with you if you do not fix your ways.
lastly if all you people really thirst for the truth, do not so it by sacrificing another or other human souls. the way latter day has gone on about beyonce being demon possessed they do not know that they are actually cursing her. they are actually conjuring up these demons, they are cursing her for not living the life that they want her to live. and the bilbe says, ‘i will curse those who curse you’. watch your step people, and be careful who you believe. if you want answers go to real people anointed by God, they will tell you about evil in music, fully backed up by scripture ,not this evil that latter day has set upon us to judge our brothers and sisters instead of trusting God.

Sarah was speaking the truth. The day of judgment is close and it is those who speak truth who will be able to stand before Him. It you cannot yell the difference between the works of God and the works of satan, then you will mistake one for the other.

I went to that Latter Days site and I would tell people to go see it for yourselves. It is nothing like rae is saying and it makes me wonder what their beef really is to be going off like that.
Plus what rae says isn’t right. When God said He curses those who curse you, He was talking to Israel. That don’t apply to people who are not saved or don’t know God. False prophecy ain’t about turning people against others it is lieing about future predictions. Plus, those who live ungodly are not brothers and sisters in Christ. This person just seems to be very confused.
That latter days site never cursed Beyonce either and they asked people to pray for her. I don’t know if Beyonce is possessed, but I didn’t see anything ungodly on that site.
I think yal should look around on it and decide for yourselves. They really had some good blogs and I can see God’s hand in what they are doing.

I just want to say that you are not a christian just because you go to church every Sunday. And the majority of the people that go to church ARE NOT SAVED. And don’t want to be.That is why there is so much HELL in the church. The body is the church and it goes with you 24/7. First of all if Beyonce would like to go to church. Then the pastor is responsible for setting the tone! If he is not starry eyed or starstruck himself. It is true God is no respecter of persons. And Beyonce should be able to attend and worship in peace. The pastor needs to let the congregation know that. This is not a concert. And ask the congregation not to harass her, take pictures or make conversation with her during the service. Because church is not for foolishness. As someone said earlier that Beyonce could have a minister come to her. But there is nothing stopping Beyonce from praying and reading the Bible. You can spend time with God anywhere!

She does the Eye of horac and the hand gesture for 666 and many other things. Her tour is called ” I AM” She is calling herself God. He husband talked about selling his soul and calling himself God. These are lost souls that are spreading the devils message. We need pray for them. It is our business becasue she is looked up to as an IDOL. Little girls and boys are Idolizing this women. Protect yourself and your kids and don’t let them watch. It happening all throughout the music industry. TRUTH!!

In Paul’s Epstiles, he states that the race is not yet finished, it goes until you die. Even if Bey is a Christian, a person has to keep going back like theyy do for a doctor, until they have reached the finial line. Bey could help other Christians grow, she could grow herself, her relationship is already in Jepordy Jay-Z hates God, and Bey loves material things, going to church getting away from all that, and showing God taht you made some effort, you care, you are part of a community, Bey has just set herself up for a big fall, because it is all the time not just one service. She could be escorted, she could be seated in a speical place, she goes to basketball games people there take her photo what is the difference? I have seen so many pics of her at the games
