Be Careful of Where You Sit!

A 14-year-old boy in China was killed when his chair exploded, sending chunks of metal into his rectum. The bleeding this caused killed him. The alleged explosion came from the gas cylinder that was in the base of the chair, the part that allowed the user to adjust the seat up and down. The canister gets compressed when you sit on it, but can it actually create enough energy to make the seat cushion explode like that and kill someone?
Although this happened in China and their regulatory procedures do not have the best reputation, I wondered if something like this could ever happen here in America. I mean, I’ve sat in a chair like this at work, for hours on end. But to have something like this happen while you’re sitting at your desk, minding your own business — well, that’s just too much for me to think about.

Whew!! My goodness, this just goes to show you have to be careful and mindful of your surroundings at all times. What at times seems like a freak accident can change how we look at things and cause us to use more caution and good common sense.

That is scary! Most of us use chairs like that at work or at home! Point is, it highlights the fact that there are so many unforseen dangers, that we couldn’t possibly worry about every eventuality! What we do need, is to pray daily for God’s protection for us and our loved ones.
Events like that are very sobering indeed.

I think back to how often I have sat in bible classes on faith and the one example that so many teachers would use is, the faith we have in a chair every time we sit down. lol. I now visualize myself standing and having prayer and devotions with my chair before I sit down in it! I am about to get a new office chair (before I catch a sciatic nerve problem). Truly I will pray over it before I begin using it.

thanks for that mate! awesome idea and thoroughly interesting read. ive been trying to convince my mates that we should have a lads curry night in instead of going out every week, and actually did it last week. effin great success it was, i can tell you! i found a tasty keema and a few others from this curry recipe site, and even made the naan meself too! who said guys cant cook!
