Barack and Hillary – Honey or Vinegar?

Written by:

So I guess Obama it is!!!  This is what I want to know, for the last several weeks, was all that mud slinging necessary?  Is it easier to catch flies with honey or vinegar, sweet words or cruel words, compliments or insults, hugs or punches?  I’d say honey/Obama!

Some weeks ago my husband and I went out to eat with my girlfriend and her husband.  Although my husband and I have only been married for 11 short months, while my girlfriend has been married for 20 years; the similarities in our marriages are very parallel.  One glaring similarity is how we argue.

Somehow we got on the subject of fighting/arguing.  Gary, my girlfriend’s husband said, “she wants me to play fair when we fight”.  His theory is, when you fight, all bets are off.  You may hit below the belt, go for the jugular, etc.  It is, for God’s sake, a fight!  My husband and I smiled at each other in disbelief.  We had just had that same discussion!  Like my girlfriend Staci asked her husband, I asked Wesley, “Why do you have to fight so dirty”?  “Why do you start off below the belt and go for the jugular so early in the fight”?  “Why can’t we just have an even playing field for our fights and settle it like two grown adults”?  I guess that theory is a theory only for women!  Oops!  All except the most publicized woman today, Hillary Clinton.

I am so tired of presidential campaigns.  I didn’t like them as a young girl when I barely knew what was going on and I don’t like them now that I am a grown woman and barely know what’s going on!  Like Staci and I asked our husbands, let me ask you; why do our beloved candidates have to hit below the belt and go for the jugular, when their main goal should be trying to convince you and me, they are the most qualified person to run this country?

Let me tell you, if I were about to hire someone for a position at a company I own, trust me, I would not go to the boxing ring or school yard to see who fights the best.  No sir.  I would base my decision on who presented themselves the best, made the clearest most concise argument as to why I should hire him/her, displayed dignity and respect, and made me feel comfortable and confident with him/her as a decent person.  But obviously that is not the tools we are offered when choosing our favorite candidate!

Instead… we sit there through all the mud slinging, wait for the dust to settle, and then decide who fought the best fight?  But then I am confused.  Should I vote for the one with the most derogatory commercials?  Should I vote for the one who dug the deepest into the competitor’s skeleton closet?  Should I vote for the one who revealed the shadiest past?  Should I vote for the one who patted themselves on the back the most?  Should I vote for the one whose promises outshined the others?  How do I make that oh so crucial decision in choosing my country’s leader for my future, my children’s future, and my grandson’s future?  I’ve got it!  Get out my favorite quarter, assign heads or tails, close my eyes, throw the coin in the air, cross my fingers, and pray for the best!

Talk back!  Tell me what you think!

FYI:  I like Barack!  :o )

A wise man wouldn’t fight using low tactics sis. He’d let it go…. A man has to act like a king if he expects to be treated like one. Nobody wins. A woman can think what she wants cause a man ain’t gonna change her mind. Best thing to do is let em yap and then just do what you’re gonna do brothers.

    That sounds pretty sexist John!

The notion that all women and men argue a certain way is absolutely wrong. Every individual has certain characteristics during an argument that, in my opinion, give a hint at how rational they are. Getting into a heated argument will strip a human down to the core and what is left is what they really are. We cannot be fooled into thinking politicians are this group of morally upstanding leaders. If that was the case, they would look at the situation the country is in and take a pay cut.

John, you are something else! I guess you keep us on our toes. I can’t say I completely understand your viewpoint, but I can say it does sound chauvinistic.

All I can say is I would LOVE to see a politician who campaigned using himself only. He/she would have tunnel vision with only the country and its citizens in view. He/she shares their plans. He/she stands on their own platform with just their thoughts and morals, and they would win us over without ANY demoralizing tactics.

Ok Tom and Kathy let me ask you this, “Why did God tell Eve that she would become subject to her husband? Before you both answer go get a Hebrew dictionary and look up the word in it’s context.

I’m not giving up my Kingship because of social changes. Any man who does what the bible teaches is automatically a show-van-nistic pig by today’s standards. Can you imagining a man odering his wife not to “look back” as they was driving out of a town God was destroying? Or some sister from Atlanta, GA named Sarah teaching a seminar for women and saying that she “obeys” her husband named Abraham?

This society is messed up for a reason. “Edumacation” done made us all so smart that we done go away from the true order of the family. As long as a man is A man of God and doing right his wife should do what he says. I ain’t saying she always has to agree, but she needs to carefully frame her opinions and weight things before her trap falls open. (LOL Ya’ll like that?)

Plus the man needs to make sure he is always taking care of things…if you know what I mean. A satisfied woman don’t have strengh …or desire to argue.

My point is that Bill ain’t been dealing with Hillary and her hermone levels are way out of wack. She is one bitter woman and it shows. I bet they sleep in separate beds….

She fought Obama so hard because she was subconsciously fighting the imame of BIll. And Bill hates her which is why he was subconsciously derailing her.

Has anyone but me noticed how bitter both Clintons are? It like if a pastor and his wife don’t like each other. They be takin shots at each othe…..

John, rarely am I at a lost for words, but I find myself there with you. You say so much in your comments. As Tom says, that is another subject. But I can say, I do agree that Hillary seems very unladylike. Even if she fights hard, at some point a little womanly grace needs to show through. It’s as if you are looking at a man running for office in her body. Obama seems to possess more tenderness than Hil-Hil.

My dear sister, I am what I am and I just try and be real.

Most men don’t like her and they don’t ever realize it’s because she reminds them of the way a nagging wife acts. She’s got that edge in her voice that kind of reminds me of walking around in sweaty undershorts. You know how you keep pullin and tuggin at em and they just keep on gettin sucked up?

  12. Kathy Says:

Alrighty then. Hil-Hil and undershorts. Hmmmm……

  13. JOHNTHEBAPTIST7 Says:

    Obviously I don’t like her………………
