The more reading and research I do the more my aggravation grows to some of what Bush did while in office. First, I didn't realize it at the time, nor did most of the country but the "Patriot Act" was a total attack on our constitution and if it wasn't for the fear and temporary unity after 9/11 there is no way it would have passed; the American people wouldn't have allowed it.

The port deal with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - This is where Bush started to lose me during his second term. He quietly tried to sneak the change of ownership of some US ports to the UAE without informing the People. I have a problem with any foreign country running the security of our ports but have a real problem with a country smack dab in the middle of the countries who hate the US with a passion running our ports.

Medicare part d: Yet another Bush failure which is a big contributor to the record rising costs of Medicare. I may come off a bit abrasive but I am sick of entitlement programs like Medicare, Welfare, Medicaid, etc... which is one of the reasons I so strongly oppose a public option or single payer system. The thing about entitlement programs is that once they are put in place there is no government official that would consider taking it away from the people who use it because quite simply it would be political suicide and there wouldn't be enough people willing to take that dive. I hope everyone thinks long and hard about the permanence of Obama's Health Insurance/Care Reform before they jump in head first. Me personally, I want the government the hell out of my life and wallet as much as possible.

The public option will lead to the single payer system which is precisely what they (Democrats and those who lean way left) want. I just had an interesting conversation with a store manager at a very large grocery store chain who had recently become frightened of Obama's plan due to the information he received from a meeting with the heads of his company. They told him that if the reform passed they would no longer be offering health care as a benefit to the employees. This is a grocery chain that stretches into numerous states to give you an idea of the magnitude. This isn't an isolated opinion, what do you think employers are going to do? They are going to take the cheaper option and what will we eventually be left with? Single payer...end of story.
